For almost 2 years failing to install Security Monthly Quality Rollup.
Did try using Update Fix tools from MS, Manual Install, SFC /Scannow, yet NOTHING WORKED so far.
Other Window Updates Installed, so the problem is with Security Monthly Quality Rollup Updates as can be seen from attached file with Failed to Install Updates.
Also attaching CBS log file and Component Based Servicing file as per instructions on your site.
ERROR CODE 80073701 comes out on those failed updates. Also tried to disable AVAST AV when installing updates, no help either.
Please help to solve this.

Hi, because after I installed SUR first time I started trying installing updates again and it kept failing which caused my CBS log to become huge in size, I deleted then all CBS data inside that CBS folder and rebooted to get new CBS, which already also lost all CheckSUR.log, so now I reinstalled SUR and it was completed and got new CheckSUR.log that I am attaching now both logs. Please tell me if you need anything else. Thanks.

Looks good. Please retry installing updates and attach CBS.log after it fails. I know you've done this before, but please do it again. We may get useful info this time.

Hi,
to prevent CBS to become huge again that will not even open, how many failed updates you want me to install before I send you CBS with info with failed installations. I am asking this because last CBS was so large it would not even open. So instruct me on this, please. Thanks.

Hi,
I started to install updates and have 3 failed updates on CBS as it grows larger, so I am sending you CBS with 3 failed updates all had 80073701 error code. I will continue installing failing updates and will send you another CBS with 6 updates that fail. Thanks.

Hi!

Step#1 - FRST Fix
NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to your operating system
1. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.
Note: You need to run the 64-bit Version so please ensure you download that one.
2. Download the attached fixlist.txt and save it to the Desktop.
Note. It's important that both files, FRST64 and fixlist.txt are in the same location or the fix will not work (in this case...the desktop).
3. Run FRST64 by Right-Clicking on the file and choosing Run as administrator.
4. Press the Fix button just once and wait. If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
5. When finished FRST64 will generate a log on the Desktop (Fixlog.txt). Please post the contents of it in your reply.
6. Reboot the machine and retry updates. If any fail, attach CBS.log.

Hi,
I restored all my hidden updates and started to install. Win 7 found only 2 updates and installed them successfully. Suddenly the list of hidden updates became empty and Win 7 tells me that "NO IMPORTANT UPDATES AVAILABLE" while in my first post I posted a pic of 17 important and 3 more recommended/optional for a total of 20.
So what happened to other 15 important updates and 3 others that were hidden before. Please see attached updates latest history list, hidden updates list (made earlier) and CBS file.

Hi!

That is normal Windows Update behaviour. Back in 2016, Microsoft switched to Cumulative update model, which means when you install the very latest update, all the previous ones become superseded and irrelevant.

Therefore, you are now officially up-to-date :-)

Hi,
It just shows how much I don't know lol. So theoretically I can uninstall all prior updates security, net, etc... as long as I have latest update on each windows 7 subject, then I am up to date? Also Jan 14-2020 is last day that MS will support Win 7, then I should not expect any new updates from MS and Dec 2019 is the last of any updates looks like for Win 7. I still like to use Win 7, works good and not too intrusive. Please answer if its worth while removing old updates given the "Cumulative" MS update model since 2016.
Thanks a lot for your quick help and I will be happy to make a donation to support this site.
