Windows 7 updates won't download

Windows 7 update won't download once they have been identified. I have already done some troubleshooting and found
that the BITS service won't start. I have tried every solution I could find on the windows site with no success. I had been
getting a 80245008 error now it says 80070057.

I downloaded the SFCfix.exe file and ran it Saturday night. It found some errors and corrected them but I still couldn't download
the updates or start the BITS service. Ran sfc /scannow and it found no errors and neither did SFCfix.

I tried but was unable to attach the CBS.zip file.

let me know if you need more info.

Thanks,

Hi and welcome to Sysnative. Please do the following so I can gather some info.

Thanks. Let's do the following.

Step#1 - Run Windows Repairs
Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.
1. Download Windows Repair (All-in-One) Portable to your desktop.
2. Once the file is downloaded, right-click on the file on your desktop and choose Extract All...

3. Keep the defaults and click the Extract button.

5. Inside this folder, there is a folder named Tweaking.com - Windows Repair. Open this folder as well.

6. Double-click on Repair_Windows.exe to open. Note: Please make sure all of your programs are closed and anything you were working on is saved as we will be rebooting.
7. When the program opens, click the Repairs tab and click the Open Repairs button.
8. A backup of your registry will be made. After a few moments you will have many options from which you can choose.
9. Please click the Unselect All button and then click to enable only the following ones:

03 - Reset Service Permissions
04 - Register System Files
05 - Repair WMI
06 - Repair Windows Firewall
10 - Remove Policies Set By Infection
14 - Remove Temp Files
15 - Repair Proxy Settings
17 - Repair Windows Updates

11. Ensure the Restart check box is selected and click the Start Repairs button in the lower right of the screen. This may take some time to run so be patient.

12. Once the fixes are complete you will be prompted to restart your machine. Answer Yes.

Success! Thank you for your assistance.

There is only one thing. I carefully went through the updates to make sure KB3035583 wasn't checked before I downloaded applied them. However, when I viewed the update history it shows KB3035583 installed along with the rest.
My Windows Update settings are "Check for updates but let me choose", so it shouldn't have downloaded that patch let alone applied it.

I don't want to upgrade to Windows 10 or have all of those upgrade files being copied to my computer again. It seems that Windows wants to upgrade my computer whether I want to or not. How do I stop it?

thanks again

Glad it worked. It's very possible that my fix caused KB3035583 to be re-installed. I would suggest that you uninstall the update and then hide it from Windows Update. Instructions for doing so are at the following link.
Windows Update - Hide or Restore Hidden Updates - Windows 7 Help Forums

Let me know if this accomplishes what you need. I've helped several people with this type of issue so let me know if this doesn't work.

I hid the update but it reappeared, so I hid it again and it worked. When I checked the hidden updates it showed KB3035583 twice.

It seems to be a persistent update.
