Windows 7 "Checking for Updates" endless, tried resetting the store and MS fixit tool etc. It never finds any updates. Thanks!

I forgot to mention that on another computer I have with Win 7, "Updates are downloading" but never finish. It's not the connection, I am on a 7meg dsl. Thanks

Hi and welcome to Sysnative. If you still need assistance, please do the following. If you need assistance with any of this let me know.

1. Please ensure that your machine is not set to go to sleep so it stays active during this process.
2. Before you go to bed, please begin checking for updates.
3. In the morning let me know how many updates are shown that need to be installed (assuming it finishes).

Thanks.

Brian, I left the laptop on over night and it finally downloaded 200 updates. I never remember Microsoft taking so much time to do Windows Updates. Is there good and bad times for Windows Updates?, it does seem like lately Fridays are always a crawl. Thanks!

It's not uncommon to take that long when there are that many updates that need to download. Your system has to check for updates and then compare all the dependencies to your machine, etc. It's taking increasingly longer on Windows 7 as well.

Anything else I can assist with?
