[SOLVED] windows 7 update stuck at checking for updates

For very recent issue (July 2016) on Windows 7 (I don’t know on Windows 8/10) regarding no detecting or downloading or installing updates, you can try

KB3172605

This KB(2016/07/22) replaces KB 3125574 (june) and fixes windows update new bug when old tools/solutionsdon’t deliver solution.

Last week, after many attempts, finaly I rexolved this suddent bug.
