My all-in-one touch screen asus pc has been used strictly for my business's gware POS 3.0 retail system for the past 2 years. The pc has always had issues when it comes to updating, which most of the time getting one or two out of ten to go through would be considered a success. Although the pc would run slow at times, the update errors(80070490) we normally got wasn't a major issue. The main problem(and the reason for this thread) is that our POS system will no longer open and there is no possible way to access our records or data. After a few seconds of trying to open a message pops up saying "cannot connect to database, terminating application". All of the system files are still on the harddrive and the POS utilitiy application which is used to backup and restore the database opens just fine. The pc came with the pos system pre-installed so I'm not familiar with any of the configurations as far as how they're linked and we don't have an external install cd or access to the original programmer. I do know that sql server plays a big part in the setup/configuration though. We've tried everything we could think of and there has been no difference. We restored the files from a external backup, did system restores, downloaded diagnostic and troubleshooting programs from the windows websites as well as sql repair tools and just about every other recovery option available. The one thing that may help is when we troubleshoot the program compatability it ends up saying the program is not compatable even though we've never had any problem with it and haven't installed any major updates. Any tips you may have would be very much appreciated. Thank you.
