Windows 7 - Stuck at 'Starting Windows'

Hi all,

My computer has been working fine with no issues offline (hasn't been connected to the internet). Mysteriously I can no longer login - the computer gets stuck at the 'Starting Windows' screen.

I have tried the following:

chkdsk: returned clean
sfc: returned problems but was unable to fix them
System restore: failed
Removed the drive and scanned it on another computer with KAV and it didn't find anything.
Tried leaving it at the 'Starting Windows' screen overnight
Tried talking nicely to it and offering a reword of full clean out if it works again.

I can log in when I boot to safe mode but the computer gets stuck when I try to do a diagnostics boot & selective boot (with all my programs disabled). Attached is the cbs.log file.

I really can't afford the time it will take to reformat the computer and get it back to work - is there any way to save the install?

Followed the link which advised me to use startup repair. When I ran startup repair the result was that it could not find any problems with my system :(

Windows 7

My computer hangs or freezes at the Starting Windows screen

Just curious - why no Internet connection?

I use the PC exclusively for mixing audio tracks and it was a move to try and keep things like this from happening. The software is very temperamental and takes a considerable amount of time install and get working with my equipment. This is why I've been trying to avoid having to reformat the PC.

Can't even get it to boot once so I can do a repair install. Really unusual situation as the PC obviously wasn't installing any sort of updates - everything was working fine for the past year and then suddenly it refuses to boot one morning.
