Hi!

I'm experienced a problem during the installation of MS15-009: Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB3021952) and MS15-018: Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB3032359).

WSUS shows 0x80073712 error during the patching.

SFC /SCANNOW goes up 100% but last note is: Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation

Could you please help to resolve this issue?

Thank you!

Hello and welcome to the forum :)

I am not convinced this is a COMPONENTS hive issues (yet), nothing is really showing of concern in the CBS log.

We will start of by fixing the SURT errors and go from there.

Unfortunately that did not find the update.

How many other users are connected to the WSUS server?

I am not having much luck tracking down these manifest files:
amd64_microsoft-windows-ie-internetexplorer_31bf3856ad364e35_11.2.9600.17509_none_11ac2db52f16b27a.manifest

If you have a few clients connected on this domain would you be able to check on these machines inside C:\Windows\WinSxS\Manifests for the above two files? If you find them can you please attach both of them to this post?

Hi!

There are 14 other computers connected to the same WSUS.

I copied these files from one computer of the 14.

View attachment amd64.txt
View attachment wow64.txt

I renamed these files because downloader doesn't allow to upload .manifest files.

On affected computer: both files exist, have the 80KB and 75.1RB size, but are empty (filled by zero).

Thank you for your help.

Hi all!

The problem has been resolved.

These two manifest files were corruped.

I changed the owner of Manifests folder (to domain user with Administative rights on this PC instead of TrustedInstaller) and select Replace owner on subcontainers and objects.
I gave full permissions on Manifests folder for this user with child objects inheritance.
I renamed these two manifest files and copy uncorrupted files from other PC.
I revoked permissions on Manifests folder for this user with child objects inheritance.
I changed the owner of Manifests folder back to TrustedInstaller (NT Service\TrustedInstaller in local (not domain) location) and select Replace owner on subcontainers and objects.

Patches have been installed succesfully.

Thank you for you help!
