Hi,

As the topic describes, my Windows 7 has stopt updating as it constantly shows the error code 0x80073712 . I've googled for days but I can't find a suitable solution. I really hope someone here can help me out.

My Windows installation is only installed a couple of weeks ago but I really need this fixed.

Excuse me if details are lacking but I'm a bit tired of this . Here is a summery of the problem. All updates have just started to fail at a certain point:

So I've run the WindowsUpdateDiagnostic.diagcab tool as advised by Microsoft and these are the results:

After running the SFCFix.exe tool as provided by this forum, here are the contents of the log file created by the tool:

Code:

That looks better.

Open Windows Update and click Check for Updates. When updates are offered, pick one and install it.
If the update fails to install, zip and attach C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

If the update installs successfully, try to install the rest of the updates and let me know how it goes.

Indeed it looks way better. I thought something had to be wrong with those manifest files..

Here is the results of the latest attempt of installing updates. However, 3 optional updates has failed. Not sure if they are serious/required. Will reboot my system after posting this.

Optional updates are failing, but the important ones are working.

KB2574819
KB2592687
KB2830477

I've checked what these updates are for and I don't really need these but should I be concerned?

Attempt to install one of the failing updates again, then zip up and attach C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log with your reply.

Let's try this:

    Capture.JPG
  6. Double-click on Repair_Windows.exe to open. Note: Please make sure all of your programs are closed and anything you were working on is saved as we will be rebooting.
  7. When the program opens, click the Reboot to Safe Mode button at the bottom of the screen. Answer Yes to allow.
  8. Once rebooted into Safe Mode, open the program again. When the program opens, click the Repairs tab and click the Open Repairs button.
