Hello there Ralph,

Is there a particular update that is failing?

Please check for updates and attempt to install any that are available. Once it fails, follow these instructions to upload the CBS log file.

Export CBS folder
 1. Click the Start button then click Computer.
 2. Double-click on the C: drive, under the Hard Disk Drives category, and then scroll down to, and double click on the Windows folder.
 3. Find and double click on the Logs folder.
 4. Right-click on the CBS folder, and select Copy.
 5. Go back to your Desktop, right-click on it, and select Paste. You should now see a copy of the CBS folder appear on your Desktop called CBS.
 6. Right-click on this new folder, and navigate through Send to, and select Compressed (zipped) folder.
 7. A new file, also called CBS (CBS.zip), but this time with a different icon, will be created.
 8. Attach this to your next post please. If it is too big, please use an alternative uploading method then send me the link (Dropbox, SkyDrive, SendSpace etc.).

Hi, I am not having any problems updating so far but I normally check SURT after any updates of Avast and these two were shown . As you know it was the last update bar one to fix the black screen bug unless you paid for security updates ,so just would like to clear these .

Sorry forgot I have just installed Office 2016 but updates kept sending updates for Office 2013 so had to uninstall Office 2016 clean all traces of office 2013 and reinstall it I know it should not have made any difference but not had any problems for a long while.

Let's go ahead and try for replacement with SURT.

Windows Update Package Replacement

Would you verify that the file C:\Windows\servicing\Packages\Package_1389_for_KB4534310~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.9(3050).mum exists?
If so, is there also a file Package_1389_for_KB4534310~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.9.mum?

Hi,again, I added the (3050) at the end on the package you sent me and that has sorted the problem. I dont know if that is the correct way but surt seems happy

Please run SFC just to verify it doesn't find anything else. If it reports an error of any kind, zip and attach the CBS log.

Try renaming the files in servicing\package to remove the (3050) from the end.
If it give an error, you may have to take permissions for the files individually before renaming.
Once complete, run SURT again.

Hi, I have tried to delete the 3050 but it will not give me permission to do so. I have copied the files into a separate folder renamed them but now cannot copy them back in.

Let's try using a fix script to remove them.

SFCFix Script

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

 1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
 2. Download the file below, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
 3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
 4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
 5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
 6. SFCFix will now process the script.
 7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
 8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please - put

tags around the log to break up the text.

Hi, checksur log attached , says its clear of any errors so I am confused but thank you!

Great! The error was from the incorrectly named manifest and cat file, so now that they have been removed it is cleared.

Would you mind running SFC to verify that nothing is missing? Once complete, zip and attach the CBS log file.
