Hello Sysnative. I'm so glad to have discovered you folks!

I've been struggling with a discovery the other day that my Win7 laptop has literally never updated -- showing 60+ pending backups. The PC has been working fine, so I have been merrily going about my daily life. No issues other than not updating: my software runs fine and daily use has been essentially perfect. I'm generally pretty handy with computers and operating system problems, but this one is really vexing me.

From guidance on other websites, I tried the Microsoft "FIX-IT" tools, to no avail. I had started getting the 80080005 error, then that became the 80070057 error, which one of the tools might have fixed (??), and now I'm back to the 8008005 error again. That is when I discovered you folks. I ran SFCFix and it shows that there are no errors.

The guidance I was following said to download and run SURT as the next step. I pulled it in from Microsoft, but that will not install, and it fails with the 80080005 error.

Per your instructions, I created the CBS zip file. Trying to attach it is proving to be a problem -- maybe it's too big? Zip = 37Mb. Could subparcel it if that would help. Looks like the uploader readily took a small file as a test. I uploaded/attached a screencap of that folder's contents, which at least might be a start?

Appreciate any help/guidance you might be able to provide.

Craig

Well, seems I solved the problem myself. The x64 version of SURP FINALLY ran properly -- I had to disable the auto-sleep function. Other threads here mentioned that it can take a long time to run. Took literally 12 hours, but it finally kicked in an asked for permission to make changes. In itself that wasn't sufficient. But then running the two FixIt tools from Microsoft and voila! Back in business. I gladly return the time of Sysnative experts to dealing with other issues.
