Hello,

I have an old laptop and I was updating some programs and I took advantage and updated Windows Update. But KB4534310 update does not update. The following error appears "The update is not applicable to your computer."

In Event Viewer, the following error appears: "The Windows update could not be installed due to error 2149842967 "" (Command line: ""C:\Windows\system32\wusa.exe" "C:\Users\gg \ Downloads \windows6.1-kb4534310-x64.msu" ")"

What I've already tried:

- Download and install the 3 catalog updates (requirements for KB454310)
- Install using DISM (always gets to 100% but when looking for update KB454310 it is not in the system)
- sfc /scannow

Windows update seems to work fine most of the time, well it always checks for updates for Windows Defender and Microsoft Essentials...

I am unable to perform Step 3 - Run ComponentsScanner.

I downloaded the file normally (ComponentsScanner 36,8 MB), double-clicked it, clicked yes, then a command prompt window opens and quickly closes and nothing happens.

Thanks,

Hello and welcome,

Boot your computer into a Clean Boot state following these instructions: How to perform a clean boot in Windows.
After that, check Windows Update but do NOT install any updates.
Provide a screenshot of the available important updates first.

Try to install the shown update and report the result.

Installed normally.

''Microsoft Security Essentials Security Intelligence Update - KB2310138 (version 1.393.557.0)

Installation Date: ‎16/‎07/‎2023 7:23 PM

Installation Status: Success''

But that same update appeared again to be downloaded/installed

On closer inspection, it appears to be the same update and version number, but with a smaller size.

Installed normally.

During the reboot, the following sentence appeared "failed to configure Windows updates reverting changes".

In Event Viewer>Installation it says: Failed to change package KB4537813 to Installed state. Status 0x80070645.

Windows update is offering another Microsoft Security Essentials update.

  8. You may close any remaining open windows now.
