Hi All,

I'm hoping the sysnative gang can help me out.
I am trying to install Win7 SP1 x64 on my old man's PC, and it's been failing to install, so I download the full offline version and tried that. Got the below message;
  • Package KB976932 failed to be changed to the Installed state. Status: 0x80073712. ERROR_SXS_COMPONENT_STORE_CORRUPT

So I downloaded and ran the System Update Readiness Tool
this gave me details on an incorrect file;
  • amd64_microsoft-windows-ie-feedsbs_31bf3856ad364e35_9.4.8112.16555_none_70cfc095ad7a7cc6.manifest

so seeing this related to IE v9, I thought I would try IE10, but that failed since it needs SP1 to install. Thought of repairing IE9, but decided against. Deleted the file, and ran the SURT again, then SP1 again. FAILED.

Further searching found me the sysnative site, and to try the sfc /scannow command.

Which ran, I rebooted, re-ran SURT, reboot, SFC again - saying all is fixed. Try SP1 now, and still failed. I then found that just running SFCFix.exe its outcome advised a few corrupt files.

I've re-ran the SURT, and SFC, to give updated outputs, got a copy of the COMPONENTS registry hive, a systeminfo extract and the sfcfix output are all attached.

Please review and let me know how to proceed in fixing further.

It seems fixed, but waiting for OK from you.
I will then run the SP1 install if you say so, and I will update you on the outcome of that.

Very good, the manifest was successfully replaced as you suspected.

Please run SFC and attach CBS.log, we'll see if it detects any corrupt files.

SFC Scan

  1. Click on the Start
    Start%20Orb.jpg
    button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    sfc /scannow

    Wait for this to finish before you continue

    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log %userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt

  4. This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please attach this to your next post.

Note: If the file is too large to attach, please right-click cbs.txt, point to Send to, and then click Compressed (zipped) folder and upload the cbs.zip file instead.

I only see one corrupt file, give it a shot. If the installation fails, zip and attach CBS.log again.

Thx zcomputerwiz for your assistance.

I've been able to loaded up SP1 on the machine. I didn't get a chance to install other post SP1 updates, but will try that in the next few days.

This job seems solved, and I'll create a new post if I get new errors applying any of those updates.
Now, I'll head to the donate button.
Many thanks.

I'm glad to hear it worked :)

I'll mark the thread as solved. If you encounter any problems, feel free to post back in this thread and I will continue to assist you.
