Hi and welcome to Sysnative. Sorry for the slight delay. Please do the following.

Step#1 - SFCFix Script

  7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please

Step#2 - Re-run CheckSUR

Please follow the instructions Here to run the System Update Readiness Tool. When the SURT finishes installing, zip up and attach the following log file.

OK, let's make sure there's not a registry issue. If that checks out then we have to fix a file corruption and that should do it. Please do the following.

Step#1 - Retrieve Components Hive

  • Please download the Freeware RegBak from here: Acelogix Software - Download products
You will find it at the bottom of the page that the link brings you to.
  • Go ahead and install this program and accept all the defaults. After the last install screen the program should open.
  • Click the New Backup button. Accept the defaults and simply click Start.
  • When it says Finished successfully, click the Close button.
  • This will bring you back to the main screen of the program. You will see one entry in this list with the date that you did it. Right-click on this line-item and select Explore Backup...
  • This will bring you into the folder where the backup was made. You should see a Users folder and a Windows folder along with a couple other files. Double-click on the Windows folder to open it. Then open the System32 folder and then config folder. You should see around 6 files in here, one of which is named COMPONENTS.
  • Copy the COMPONENTS file to your Desktop. If the COMPONENTS file does not exist, please fetch it instead from C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS.
  • Now right click on the COMPONENTS file that is on your desktop and select Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder.
  • Then please upload the zip file (COMPONENTS.zip) to your favourite file sharing website (it will be too big to upload here). Examples of services to upload to are Dropbox or One Drive or SendSpace and then just provide the link in your reply.
  • You can close any open windows you have as well as the RegBack program now.

Thanks. Registry looks good.

Based on the error from the log it must be a missing or corrupt file. Let's check.

It does indeed look like missing files. Please try the following.

Step#1 - Fix Missing Files
Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.
  1. Please download the attached file, Packs.zip and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Right-click on the file and select Extract All...
  3. Tick the box labelled Show extracted files when complete then click Extract
  4. A window will open showing two folders, Manifests and Packages
  5. Ignore the Manifests folder.
  6. Open the Packages folder and copy the files into the following folder (if there are any files). If the Packages folder doesn't exist within Servicing you will need to create it.
    C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages
  7. Run the System Update Readiness Tool (SURT) again.
  8. When the SURT finishes installing, zip up and attach the following log file:

OK, thanks. Let's get some fresh logs.

Step#1 - Fresh CBS Log

  1. Run the following from a command-prompt.
  2. copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log %userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt
  3. This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please zip and attach this to your next post.

Step#2 - Windows Update Log
Please zip and attach your Windows Update Log from c:\windows\WindowsUpdate.log

Looks like we have to manually put the files where they need to go. The files didn't get moved to the appropriate place from the Packs.zip. I'm preparing a post for this right now.

Let's see how this goes. Let's just try this first without attempting an update.

Step#1 - SFCFix Script
