Hey, I have been having errors whenever I try to install montly security updates through the windows update utility. Other updates seem to install just fine though.
I have tried few fixes that I've been checking out online, like renaming softwaredistribution folder. Also tried Reset Windows Update Tool, which went through but didn't fix the problem.
Only able to see 1 important update, but I haven't been able to update any security updates in past either(half year atleast). Currently being unable to install KB4534310.
Computer works fine otherwise though.

So here are the steps taken so far after all that:

1. Did the sfc scan, no issues. Also have done the chkdsk scan, no issues.

2. Tried the SURT scan. But it seems to take forever(over 2 hours) and so far screen has always went black eventually during it. Can still hear sound, and can still see screen when pressing ctrl+alt+del, but only during that screen. Have tried this during "clean boot" too.
Might give it another try if need be. But maybe something else can be done as seen by the SFCfix below.

3. Here is the result of the SFCfix scan:
SFCFix version 3.0.2.1 by niemiro.

4. CBS file is over 400Mb big, but here is the link to it: Link

Hi Welcome to Sysnative,

I want to see what those 1161 errors are about!

Please attach to your post the log from the following location: C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log
Note:
If the file is too big please copy the file to the Desktop Zip it and upload the ZIP file to a service like Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive or upload to SendSpace and just provide the link for the file here.

Here you go. Think it was stopped in the middle of it due needing to reboot after the black screen. SURT never finished the run I presume. It was growing is size slowly tho while I could still see.
I added the CheckSUR.persist.log too just in case.

Hi,

Thanks for the log.

Please run SURT again and let it run until it completes but first make sure you stop/close the Antivirus and any other programs that are running, try to close as much as you can of those icons next to the clock on the taskbar.

Okey, gonna try to install the Windows6.1-KB947821-v34-x64. Hopefully it won't stop at initializing installation again.
Thanks for the help so far!

Looks good.

SFC scan
  • Please open up a Command Prompt Window as a Administrator, instructions for Windows 7 or Windows 8 and 8.1.
  • Inside the command prompt window type or copy & Paste the following command:
    sfc /scannow
Note: This may take some time to finish. If the result is not "No integrity violations found" or equivalent please do the following:

Export the CBS folder
  1. Open the folder C:\Windows\Logs
  2. Right-click on the CBS folder, and select Copy
  3. Go back to your Desktop, right-click on it, and select Paste. You should now see a copy of the CBS folder appear on your Desktop called CBS
  4. Right-click on this new folder, and navigate through Send to, and select Compressed (zipped) folder
  5. A new file, also called CBS (CBS.zip), but this time with a different icon, will be created
If the zip file is too large to upload to the forum please share the file using a service like Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive or upload to SendSpace and just provide the link for the file here.

Good.

Now check for Windows Updates, select one an try to install it, if fails collect the new CBS.log
