Windows 7 Activated but not Validated

I have an HP M8010Y quad core Media Center computer I bought with Windows Vista with a RAID 0 drive array many years ago (about 2007). I updated it to Windows 7 Ultimate several years ago. Recently one of my RAID 0 drives failed, so instead of buying just one drive I bought two since the other drive would probably fail soon. I installed one of the new drives, identified it as a member of the RAID array and let the system rebuild that drive. I then shut down, removed the original drive, replaced it with a new drive, and again let the system rebuild the RAID array. It appears from that day forward Windows Update would not run. I started getting messages that my copy of Windows was not genuine. I re-entered my product key and the system appeared to take the product key. Since this was a Media Center PC, the number I used was the Media Center product number because it said my Windows Vista product number wasn't a good number. Activation of Windows seemed to work, but I still receive messages that Windows is not genuine. I then tried to Validate my copy of window and it said files were missing that were required to validate my copy of windows. I've tried many fixes including sfc/scannow and none seem to work. Please help.

  1. Download MGADiag (by Microsoft) from the link found below:

  2. Run the tool by double-clicking on the file. Press Continue when prompted
  3. When it has finished, press Copy then Paste (Ctrl+V) this into your next post please

Please also mention what version of windows is mention on your COA sticker (if you have one) but don't post the key.

Convert CBS.log to CBS.txt

  1. Click on the
    Win7Orb_zps4dae3b32.jpg
    button => Inside the search box copy and paste the following command:
    Code: 
    cmd /c copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"
  2. Press Enter
  3. Once this has completed please go to your Desktop and you will find CBS.txt => Please upload CBS.txt to this thread

Please Note:: if the file is too big to upload to you next post please upload via Dropbox or One Drive
 
When I hit Copy in the MGADiag dialog box I get the following:

My machine came with Windows Vista Home Premium which I upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate. I don't know if it's related, but I can no longer download files from my browser nor get Dropbox to log in. I had to download MGSDiag to another machine and copy it to this one. I've also noticed all my services say "Started" but none say "Running"

I will use Dropbox from another computer to upload CBS.txt because it's 6.5MB. Who do I send the Dropbox invite to?

I hesitated to update my Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver because in the past I had continual RAID array failures with drivers newer than Version 8.8. I fixed this by going back to Version 8.8 and never had another RAID failure. I went ahead and upgraded to the 8.9.0.1023 driver, rebooted twice, and ran MGADiag which is below. I also tried to validate the license but it still failed. Hopefully you have other ideas.

OK -- in that case, we have to go to the fallback position, since the 'standard' fixes aren't working.
At this point I should warn you that where these fixes have failed, the success rate isn't all that great - but we'll see what we can do, anyhow.

Please run a full CHKDSK and SFC scan....
Click on Start > All Programs > Accessories
Right-click on the Command Prompt entry
Select Run as Administrator and accept the UAC prompt - the Elevated Command Prompt window should pop up.
At the Command prompt, type
CHKDSK C: /R
and hit the Enter key.
You will be told that the drive is locked, and the CHKDSK will run at the next boot - hit the Y key, and then reboot.
The CHKDSK will take a few hours depending on the size of the drive, so be patient!
After the CHKDSK has run, Windows should boot normally (possibly after a second auto-reboot) - then run the SFC.

SFC -System File Checker - Instructions
Click on Start > All Programs > Accessories
Right-click on the Command Prompt entry
Select Run as Administrator and accept the UAC prompt - the Elevated Command Prompt window should pop up.
At the Command prompt, type
SFC /SCANNOW
and hit the Enter key
Wait for the scan to finish - make a note of any error messages - and then reboot.

Now copy the whole CBS folder (C:\Windows\Logs\CBS) folder to your desktop, compress it and upload it to your reply (if the file is too large, strip out the oldest CBSPersist files until the size is small enough)
 
The first thing I note is that you have Symantec software installed - SEP, by the looks of it?
This could make troubleshooting difficult, since it often blocks attempts to repair system files.

There are no obvious errors in the SFC scan results - or in the background CBS data as far back as 12th Sept

The begs the question: "why does SFC think there's something wrong?'

Let's see if CheckSUR tells us anything...
Please download and save the CheckSUR tool from Fix Windows corruption errors by using the DISM or System Update Readiness tool
(you'll need to look in the details for Windows 7, downloading from the Microsoft Download Center)

Run it - The tool can take anywhere from 5 mins to a couple of hours to run (or 'Install') depending on how much it has to do, and may exit silently - it may appear to freeze for most of that time, but be patient.
The result is logged in the C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log file - and an archive …\checksur.persist.log file

Then zip the CheckSUR.log and upload it to your reply.
 
I have downloaded the System Update Readiness Tool, but it will not install. It gave me the error message "Installer encountered an error: 0xc8000247"

  2. Go to your desktop and right click on VEW.exe and choose Run as Administrator
  3. Once open set the following settings
    • 'Select log to query'
      1. Tick Application
      2. Tick System
    • 'Select Type to list'
      1. Tick Critical
      2. Tick Error
      3. Tick Information
      4. Tick Warning
    • 'Number or date events'
      1. Tick Number of Events and set it to 20
  4. Click on Run
  5. Once completed a notepad file will open. Please copy and paste the contents of VEW.txt back into this thread.
