I have run the sfcscannow and have a log for that, but cannot get the CBS to open or zip to desktop, message that file not found or do not have permission. It is in the C: logs folder but for some reason when following the instructions these errors pop up.
C:\users\PeterM~\appdata\local\temp\RAR$ML8516.35897\CBS.RAR: cannot open C:\ windows\logs\CBS\CBS.log Access denied
I have an older file on my desktop (5days ago) not sure if this will help, for some reason that did save but not as a zipped file but only a text file.

Hi there!

Please try to install the update again, then when it fails zip and attach C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

  1. Click on the Start
    Start%20Orb.jpg
button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log %userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt

  4. This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop.
  5. Right-click on the CBS.TXT file on your Desktop and select Send To -> Compressed (zipped) Folder
  6. Upload the zip from your Desktop to a file sharing service such as DropBox, OneDrive, SendSpace, etc. and include the link with your reply.

Ok, will do. I tried about a week ago, would I still have the CBS log for that on my computer?
Tried doing the copy paste into cmd and keep getting a syntax error!!

The CBS log is regularly archived from other update activity, so trying the installation again is the quickest way since you will then only need the current CBS log :)

I have 2 downloads and both have failed, tried to use the cut and paste of the command you typed into a command box entered and received a message about incorrect syntax, is the string you typed correct because my admin command prompt will not accept it. I even tried typing it in with the same result.

attached is a screen shot of the cmd box.

Very interesting.

Please try browsing to C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\ with Windows explorer, then right click on CBS.log and choose Copy.
Next, right click on some open space on your desktop and choose Paste.
Finally, right click on CBS.log on your desktop and choose Send To -> Compressed (Zipped) Folder

Once complete, upload the new file, CBS.zip and include the link here

Just for information, I am operating off another computer at present, the one with the issues may have crapped a motherboard, so I will hold this fault if that is ok until I find out if I can get the other machine up and running.
