Hello,

I'm getting error:
Some update files are missing or have problems. We'll try to download the update again later. Error code: (0x80073712)

SFC /scannow runs to 100% without issues, DISM aswell. ComponentsScanner found a bunch of fun stuff.

Hi Maxstar,
The componentsscanner and CBS log is from before i played around.

When i'm checking registry on x86_microsoft-windows-b..ager-pcat.resources_31bf3856ad364e35_10.0.17763.3887_hu-hu_fab4dbf816de444b, it looks different then the others

all other keys have CF and bootmgr.exe values set to 2048 and 65, but not this one.

The componentsscanner and CBS log is from before i played around.
That's why I ask to revert this build to an previous state, since you have tried to remove KB5022286.

Please be aware that fixing issues with Windows Update does not involve removing updates with FRST?

So please revert this server to a previous state (before playing around) and attach the requested logs.

I'm sorry, it was obvious to me to revert to the version before i played around. But here's new logs. I was just fiddling around, i have nothing to loose due to the server wont taking updates.

Hi,

Upload your COMPONENTS hive.
  • Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file.
  • Please copy this file to your desktop.
  • Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again.
  • Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To > Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop.
  • If the file is too large to upload here, upload the file to www.wetransfer.com and post the link in your next reply.

Hi,

Download

SFCFix and save it to your desktop.

Warning: This fix was written specifically for this system. Do not run this fix on another system.
  • Save any work you have open, and close all programs.
  • Download the attachment SFCFix.zip and save it to your desktop.
  • Drag the SFCFix.zip file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it.

  • SFCFix will launch, let it complete.
  • Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt.
  • Post the logfile (SFCFix.txt) as attachment in your next reply.

Afterwards reboot the server and attempt to update. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS logs.

Thank you very much again Maxstar, the server has installed latest updates now. Where do you get a hold if the
x86_microsoft-windows-b..ager-pcat.resources_31bf3856ad364e35_10.0.17763.3887_hu-hu_fab4dbf816de444b and it's content?

I have several VM's running to use as source for such issues, but this component was not the only issue, two other components were corrupted too!

But glad to hear the issue has been resolved, so I will mark this thread as solved... (y)

Yeah i understand there was more stuff corrupt, but i was just curious because i looked on other machines for the key
x86_microsoft-windows-b..ager-pcat.resources_31bf3856ad364e35_10.0.17763.3887_hu-hu_fab4dbf816de444b
but couldn't find it, and even if i were to find it i wouldn't know how to fix it. From what i can read from the SFCFix all we do to solve this is just copying values and files from a healthy machine and importing them onto the broken one.
Thanks again!

Basically, yes! But you always need to examine the COMPONENTS hive manually to provide a correct fix, so it's not only copying values and files..
