Hello,

I'm having issues with a Windows 2008 R2 server. I'm not sure when this started so backup/restore wise I don't think going back to a restore point is viable. As far as event logs are concerned, this has been happening way past 30 days which is the limit of our backup retention.

In event viewer I'm getting {Registry Hive Recovered} Registry hive (file): '\??\C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS' was corrupted and it has been recovered. Some data might have been lost.

If I run sfc /scannow - I get no errors.

chkdsk - no errors detected.

If I run Dism /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth I get 175 errors of CSI Missing Identity or Deployment Key or Winning Component Key.

I have run the SURT for 2008 R2 and it fixed only 3 errors.

I have ran SFCFIX.exe and it came back with 176 errors.

I will upload all files from scans.

Yes but I have made some progress on this server since by taking registry entries from a good working server on the same version and exporting them out. I will upload a new scan tomorrow with where I'm at and see if you can help fix the rest of the errors left.

SFCFix Script

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Download the file below, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
  5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please - put
    Code:
tags around the log to break up the text.
