Windows 11 installation royally fxxxed... 😔

Trying to update the Nvidia drivers to the latest 552.44 I realized my Windows installation is royally fxxxed...

1.
- The drivers installation failed. And then it suddenly removed the 552.22 version I had installed, removed the RTX 4080 device in Device Manager, created a "VGA compatible" basic device instead and switch my resolution to 1024x768...

- Trying to update/change the driver for that "VGA device" detects it is the RTX 4080, but ANY driver installation says "Access denied", no matter it is from the Device Manager or any Nvidia installer, no matter it is autodetected or a manual .inf... 🤬

2.
- Going back to a previous Macrium backup only showed me that I've been using a 'corrupted' system for some time:

- Windows Update does not work, there are ALWAYS errors:
1715434176262.png

- Reinstallation do not work, the option is not even available:
1715434228744.png

- SFC /scannow do not work:
1715434286974.png

DISM /online /cleanup-image /RestoreHealth do not work either:
1715434328022.png

- Trying to install ANY Windows version on top do not work, not even any Insider builds, 24H2 or whatever... they ALL fail.

Tried many 'Repair' and 'Fix' softwares and tools and none did anything at all...

WURESET ( Reset Windows Update Tool | Troubleshooting for Windows Update | Repair System Files, Registry, and Winsock ), etc...

Any suggestions? I'm losing my mind here... if I have to clean install a Windows 11 and reinstall and reconfigure every software I have installed I'm gonna kill myself... 🤬

When I run SFCfix this is what happens:

Thanks, could you please reg export the following subkey and then attach it your next post? I'll build a new fix script from that for you:

Code:
reg export "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing\Version" %userprofile%\Desktop\SSU.reg

You should find a file called SSU.reg saved to your Desktop, could you please attach that?

SFCFixScript.txt

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Download the attached file, SFCFixScript.txt, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFixScript.txt - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFixScript.txt.
  5. Drag the file SFCFixScript.txt onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a log should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this into your next post for me to analyse please - put [CODE][/CODE] tags around the log to break up the text.

Afterwards, please try running DISM again.

SFC, DISM and Windows Update still fail:

Also, the system is behaving even more strangely now: None of my start menu groups work now, Search don't work, I had UAC disabled but now it is enabled again and asking for everything, even if I disable it again in Winaerotweaker... should I go back to a previous Restore Point or backup?

Capture Process Monitor Trace
1. Download and run Process Monitor. Leave this running while you perform the next steps.
2. Try running DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth just like you have in the past.
3. Stop Process Monitor as soon as it fails. You can simply do this by clicking the square icon on the toolbar as shown below.

4. Select the File menu...Save... and save the file to your desktop. This is likely the default location. The name (unless changed) will be LogFile.PML. This is fine.
5. Zip up and provide the link to the LogFile.PML file as well as your CBS.log Examples of services to upload to are Dropbox or OneDrive or WeTransfer.

should I go back to a previous Restore Point or backup?
No, please do not use any restore points or backups otherwise we're going to have to repeat the same steps from earlier. Those issues with the start menu groups and search are likely due to WinAeroTweaker, are you running any other UI modification tools?

Unfortunately, the trace isn't revealing much information at all, could you please provide the following FRST logs:

Step#1 - FRST Scan

1. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.
Note: You need to run the 64-bit Version so please ensure you download that one.
2. Right-click FRST64.exe and click Run as Administrator to run it as administrator. When the tool opens, click Yes to disclaimer.
3. Please ensure you place a check mark in the Addition.txt check box at the bottom of the form before running (if not already checked).
4. Press Scan button.
5. It will produce a log called FRST.txt in the same directory the tool is run from (which should now be the desktop)
6. Please attach the log back here.
7. Another log (Addition.txt - also located in the same directory as FRST64.exe) will be generated Please also attach that along with the FRST.txt in your reply.

In addition to that, please open an elevated command prompt and enter the following commands:

Code:
fltmc filters
reg query HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4d36e967-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}

Please provide the output of both in your next post.
