[SOLVED] Windows 10 Windows Update (error code 0x800700c1)

Hi All,

I am looking for help with a Windows Update problem - error 0x800700c1

The PC runs Windows 10 version 20H2 OS Build 19042.1110

Issue:
When I try to run Windows update, it doesn't work and gives error 0x800700c1

I have tried the following per forum instructions:

Step 1: Run SFC Scan
This does not run and says the following:

Step 2: DISM

This also does not run successfully with error (attached photo) 0x800f081f and source files not found--

DISM.log is attached.

Step 3: Components Scanner
This was run with several corruption file
I uploaded the results to Sysnative and ComponentsScanner.txt is attached.




Step 4: Export CBS folder
Done and attached.




Thanks for this great forum and looking at this.
Let me know what I can do

Step 1. Download

SFCFix and save it to your desktop.

Warning: This fix was written specifically for this system. Do not run this fix on another system.
  • Save any work you have open, and close all programs.
  • Download the attachment SFCFix.zip and save it to your desktop.
  • Drag the SFCFix.zip file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it.

  • SFCFix will launch, let it complete.
  • Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt.
  • Post the logfile (SFCFix.txt) as attachment in your next reply.


Step 2. Run the following DISM command and post the result. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS log.

Note -- the attachment was called SFCFix.zip so that was what I dragged to the SFCFix.exe.

DISM command ran and completed - error on source files - Result attached (DISM Log and CBS log)

For your reference; I am able to run SFC /scannow but some files are corrupted - Results are attached - CBS log

I am also able to do the SFC /scannow -- completes and no issues with file integrity.

It appears I am now able to do Windows Update - now appears to be working!

I can confirm that the update issue has been resolved - I am able to update to Windows 11.
