So it seems that another file has been repaired and the CBS logs would point to a new damaged one... It's a bit frustating (for we both) that DISM would not flag all the corrupted files at once, but instead one file each time... Thanks for your help and your time Attachments CBS-6.zip 1.6 MB · Views: 2 Screen capture 6.zip 12 KB · Views: 4 SFCFix-log6.zip 823 bytes · Views: 1

It is difficult to ascertain what the exact cause was. To avoid these problems or even worse, is to make regular backups. But, here is the next fix.. Step 1. The only thing I remember is that the computer did suspend several times and finally was shutdown (not a forced shutdown) when the last cumulative update was being installed (it did not finish installing, no message about updates appeared while shuting down or on the next boot). I checked the hard disk before posting at this forum with the Seagate Seatools program, both the short and long tests and came up clean. I'll do a memory test... I ran the last fix, it seems another file was repaired and then DISM found another corrupted file. Another little improve I have attached the screen capture, the SFCFix log and the last CBS log (it seems an update was being installed in the background? I didn't notice...) F frg Active member Joined Jun 16, 2022 Posts 31 Jul 19, 2022 #33 Sorry for not replying in the past days. I ran the last fix yesterday. The DISM scan has now stopped at 38,5% (it has improved) and the error message is different. Now it reports "Error 605: The specified buffer contains ill formed data." And, as far as I have tried to read the CBS log, now it seems to report a few files at a time I have attached the screen capture, the SFCFix log and the last CBS log. If you need more information or more files to diagnose this new "error 605", please, let me know. Thank you

The screen capture, the SFCFix log and the last CBS log are attached (unless I forget them again ) Windows Update seems to be retrying doing updates in the background...
