[SOLVED] Windows 10 Update shut down

Good morning my main issue is that I am Trying to update windows 10, update starts, it downloads the update to be installed, it begins to install and when it gets to the end of the installation update it shuts down and it say windows update failed in an screen. I Have used Windows update assistance.

When I run windows update troubleshoot it odes not find any errors.

When I run the update within windows settings Update & Security I get the following errors:

• Feature update to Windows 10, version 1803 - Error 0x8007007e
• Update for Windows 10 Version 1607 for x64-based Systems (KB4033631) - Error 0x8000ffff
• Update for Windows 10 Version 1607 for x64-based Systems (KB4049411) - Error 0x8000ffff
Update for Windows 10 Version 1607 for x64-based Systems (KB4091461) - Error 0x800f081f

I tried to run sfc/scannow to see any issues but the following error I get " Windows Resources protection could not start the repair service"

I have done the following to solve the problem to solve the problem but no luck:


  1. Hold Windows Key and press X (release Windows Key). Click Command Prompt (Admin)
  2. Type net stop wuauserv and press Enter
  3. Type net stop cryptSvc and press Enter
  4. Type net stop bits and press Enter
  5. Type net stop msiserver and press Enter
  6. Type ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old and press Enter
  7. Type ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 Catroot2.old and press Enter
  8. Type net start wuauserv and press Enter
  9. Type net start cryptSvc and press Enter
  10. Type net start bits and press Enter
  11. Type net start msiserver and press Enter
  12. Close the Command Prompt
Please I beg you to help me as my windows is getting older have not been able to update.

Step#1 - Export registry as hive



  • Click on the Start button and in the search box, type regedit
  • When you see regedit on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator.
  • When regedit opens, using the left pane, navigate to the following registry key and select it by clicking on it once.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing
  • Once selected, click File > Export....
  • Change the Save as type: to Registry Hive Files (*.*).
  • Name this file ComponentBasedServicing (with no file extension) and save it to your Desktop.
  • Right-click on the saved file and choose Send To -> Compressed (zipped) Folder.
  • Attach the .ZIP file to your next post.
  • If the file is too large to upload here, upload to SendSpace and just provide the link here.
 
SFCFix Script

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.



  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Download the file below, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
  5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please - put
    Code:
    tags around the log to break up the text.

Hi I just went to setting in windows 10 after had just started the computer and the following update had just started and it was already 80% it has stayed 80% for almost 1 hour.
Feature Update for Windows 10 version 1803
It says preparing to install 80%

It just stayed there.

I tried to use the Windows 10 update assistant and it says it cannot install because other update is already running.
