My computer has attempted to download the 1803 update releasted on Oct 9th about 7-8 times now failing every time, usually around the 90 percents, it's extremely fustrating b/c every time it seems like its about to update but then it reverts and the cycle just repeats every 2-3 days, in fact it's gonna try to update it again today, which I KNOW it will fail... How annoying! Here's the requested files, I can't wait to get this fixed!

Hello and welcome!

Please detach all devices from your computer but the mice and keyboard. If using a lan cable, pull it out. If using a wifi card disconnect it and disable it in BIOS if possible and retry the upgrade.

Hi! I disconnected a bunch of stuff, retried the update, and still got the same error. I even tried it again without the keyboard or mouse the reverting changes still happened. Also, I was not able to find an option to disable Wi-Fi in the BIOS, I only found it for the onboard LAN which didn't change the connectivity of the Wi-Fi when my PC booted, I assume it only makes it so plain old ethernet doesn't work which I wasn't using in the first place.

Considering it still didn't work with everything else disconnected could the Wi-Fi card be the culprit? If so, how do I disable it with the MSI bios, I didn't see an option absolutely everywhere!

Thanks.

Was not sure where to find those files, but found this article on how: Log files - Windows IT Pro | Microsoft Docs

It mentions they are found in the $Windows.~BT directory in the C drive. However, this folder is noticeably missing even with hidden files toggled on. So, I tried updating again and of course the reverting changes happened again. But, still no files. So, I assume it's doing some weird kind of system restore or something?

So, I'm assuming Windows has no memory of the update happening all. Except I for the update history which is provided in the picture below indicating a total of 11 failed updates so far.

Let me check:

SFCFix Script

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

 1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
 2. Download the attached file, SFCFixScript.txt, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFixScript.txt - do not rename it.
 3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
 4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFixScript.txt.
 5. Drag the file SFCFixScript.txt onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
 6. SFCFix will now process the script.
 7. Upon completion, a log should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
 8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this into your next post for me to analyse please - put

tags around the log to break up the text.

Oh! I found the log files using the directory you put in the script. Here are the two text files you requested earlier!

EDIT: I noticed this version was from June, I found a setuperr.log and setupact.logg from today in System32/LogFiles/setupcln, hope it's relevant!

The setupact in the system32 was too big for an attachment, I attached the other err log in the attachments!

Sorry, I am confused. What are you trying to upgrade? You are using the latest version of Win10. The only thing that is failing is the update. In order to diagnose that I'm going to need the CBS.log after a failed attempt.

I meant the latest major build release. Yes, you do need to install the October update. I have identified some issues in the logs you provided and will provide a fix when I find the time during the day.

Good night!
