Hi,

My machine has been unable to update Window 10 Pro to the latest updates for some time now. Specifically it seems to be failing on KB5031356, with an error code 0x800f0922.

I have tried a range of things, including:
- Ensure enough disk space (500 GB+) on C drive
- Run CHKDSK
- Run DISM
- Run SFC /Scannow
- Running SFCFix
- Deleting the Windows Update cache
- Downloading just this update and installing manually

Result is always the same - it gets to 99% update complete, before saying 'we couldn't complete the updates, undoing changes'.

I want to avoid a complete rebuild if at all possible - any help appreciated.

Thanks,

Hi and welcome to Sysnative,

Open an elevated command prompt, run the following command and attach Services.txt to your next post.
Code:
WMIC SERVICE GET caption, name, startmode, state > "%userprofile%\desktop\services.txt"

Hi,

Download the
577bf0efb8088-FRST.png
Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop:

Download the 64 bit version: - Farbar Recovery Scan Tool Link

Warning: This script was written specifically for this system. Do not run this script on another system.

  • Download the attachment fixlist.txt and save it to your desktop.
  • Right-click on FRST.exe and select "Run as administrator".
  • Press the Fix button.
  • If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally.
  • When finished, a log called Fixlog.txt will appear in the same directory the tool is run from.
  • Post the logfile Fixlog.txt as attachment in your next reply.

Great, reboot the system and attempt to update. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS logs.
