Hi,

I got some irritationg problems with my Windows 10 update. Classic Windows Update attempts to install Widnows 10 fail after downloading with 800703F1 error. I've tried the Media Creation Tool, but it also failed. Please find attached setupact.log and setuperr.log from C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources\Panther and CBS.log (compressed).

I know that simillar topic is already on, still as far as I'm concerned this bug may require an individual approach.

I'm trying to update Windows 8.1 to Windows 10.

Thanks for Your advice!

Hi and welcome to Sysnative. Sorry for the delay.

First thing I would try is to disconnect any peripheral devices from your machine (i.e. any USB devices or anything else that is not absolutely essential), do a Clean Boot and then try installing from a USB key like you were doing. Use the Media Creation Tool to create the install media on a USB drive if you haven't already (not sure if you did DVD or USB) and try that. Make certain you are in a Clean Boot state however.

Let me know how it goes.

Hi.

Nope, it didn't work. While trying to use the Media Creation Tool after clean boot the instaler tells me that it's unable to verify the free space on my HDD (while I have at least 200 GB of free space). I've heard that ultrabooks with recovery partitions may have some issues. Do You have any idea how to pass this problem?

What is the exact error message that comes up when you try?

While using Media Creation Tool:

Code:
[B]Something Happened[/B]

 [B]We can't tell if your PC has enough space to continue installing Windows 10. Try restarting setup.[/B]

Windows Update still indicates 800703F1 error.

Is your machine a dual-boot machine? Do you have two Operating Systems installed on it?

Hi.

No, only Windows 8.1 remains installed - I've bought it with Windows 8 installed and afterwards upgraded it to Windows 8.1 (using Windows Uprgrade). I've never tried installing additional Operating Systems. Nonetheless - I use Lenovo Thinkpad U310 so propably some recovery partitions etc. may be installed.

I wonder if your recovery partition is too small.

1. Right-click your Start button and choose Disk Management
2. Can you take a screen shot of this window and post?
3. If you are unfamiliar with how to do this you can alternatively just type the info as you see it. For Example, mine shows...
Disk 0 - Data (E:) - 596.17 GB NTFS - Healthy (Primary Partition)
Disk1 - 300 MB - Healthy (Recovery Partition), 100 MB Healthy (EFI System Partition) - (C:) 118.73 GB NTFS - Healthy (Boot, Page File, Crash Dump, Primary Partition)

Thanks.

Hi,

here You go:
Disk management.jpg

Unfortunately, I use my native OS version. For Your purposes:
Partycja podstawowa = Basic Partition
Partycja odzyskiwania = Recovery partition
Partycja systemowa EFI = EFI System Partition
Partycja OEM = OEM Partition
Zdrowy (Rozruch...) = Healthy (Boot, Page File, Crash Dump, Primary partition)
Prosty = simple
Zdrowy = Healthy
Podstawowy = Basic.

More or less - I've got two unnamed basic partitions, D: (basic partition), three unnamed recovery partitions, one unnamed EFI System Partition, one unnamed OEM Partition and C: (Primary partition). All numerical date as You can in the picture. Please feel free to ask if You'll need anything more to translate.

EDIT

I've already tried to shut down the "smaller" HDD (Disc 0) before installing Windows 10, without any progress. No changes were made since I've bought the notebook.

Thanks for the info. Let's check your disk and then I'll get some other staff involved.

Step#1 - ChkDsk Scan
1. Right-click your Start button and select Command Prompt (Admin). Answer Yes to allow if the User Account Control dialog comes up.
2. You should now have a black window open that you can type in to.
3. Please type chkdsk and then press enter.
4. Chkdsk will start to run. Please allow it to finish. You will know it is running when you see text as follows.
Chkdsk.JPG

5. Download ListChkdskResult.exe by SleepyDude and save it on your desktop. If it's already downloaded to your desktop, just skip this step.
6. Right-click this file and select Run as administrator (Allow if prompted)and a text file will open (and also be saved on the desktop as ListChkdskResult.txt).
Please copy the contents of this file and paste into your next post.
