[SOLVED] Windows 10 Pro, SFC, DISM and Windows update fails

Hello, I'm attempting to fix father's PC with Windows 10 Pro.
Updates started to fail some time ago - and PC appears to be in a half-updated state. Almost every startup displays message "Please Wait ...", which delays the startup by approximately 5 minutes.
After that system starts and works OK, just updates do not get installed. Although we could live without updates, the 5 min delay is very annoying...

After trying easy things, like restoring to last checkpoint, safe mode+remove downloaded packages, dism in recovery mode .. etc, I've attempted to reinstall Windows with option to keep personal files and applications.
At first it seemed quite good, it started downloaded Windows, started updating ... and after about 90 minutes failed.

Step #2 - Run SFC Scan

Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service.

SFCFix Script

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
Download the file below, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
Save any open documents and close all open windows.
On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
SFCFix will now process the script.
Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please - put [CODE][/CODE] tags around the log to break up the text.

SFC Scan

Click on the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

sfc /scannow

Wait for this to finish before you continue

copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log %userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt
This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please attach this to your next post.

After that I copied the cbs.txt file
About 10 seconds later the system suddenly rebooted, without any warning - and rebooted about 4 times in a row
After that it booted up successfully and I was able to run the sfc again, with following results:

Okay, I see you are using a pretty outdated version of W10, would you like to upgrade to the latest version?

Well, that is ultimate goal of this thread.

I've tried it using the media creation tool few days ago, data was downloaded fine, but the upgrade process failed.
Maybe it could work now, when the dism is fixed?

I want to preserve applications and data, there are thousands of photos, documents and especially, there is legally installed MS Office and I no longer have it's license number.

btw, sfc / scannow still fails

Go ahead with the upgrade then. I'm thinking it should work now that we've fixed the servicing stack corruption. If not, post back. :)
