Hi, I have a computer with some problems related to Windows update. It is stuck at some update showing error 0x800706be.
At first, I detected that several disk error events were registered, so I managed to clone the disk into a new SSD.

After that, with the new disk, problem for updating persists. Another symptom is that when rebooting, it takes more time than normal showing "Wait", before login window.

Checking now the event viewer, I see that a couple of events are registered everytime I try to update.
These are 1005 event - Application error

I tried using "sfc /scannow", but it throws an error: "Protección de recursos de Windows no pudo iniciar el servicio de reparación."

I tried also doing a "repair update" or "in place update", keeping user info and applications, but when it reaches 100% and says it's going to reboot, it doesn't reboot and show a windows saying that "Windows 10 installation has failed". Checking msconfig, I see it has prepared a second boot from $windows-bt/NewOs, but not activated it, so on reboot, will reboot normally.

I tried finally using SCFix, during the process "sfc /scannow" failed, and txt shows as follows.

I detected that several disk error events were registered, so I managed to clone the disk into a new SSD

There is a huge number of corruptions, so hopefully we can fix it.

Step 1. Run SFCFix with the attached ZIP file.
Warning: This fix was written specifically for this system. Do not run this fix on another system.
  • Save any work you have open, and close all programs.
  • Download the attachment SFCFix.zip and save it to your desktop.
  • Drag the SFCFix.zip file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it.

I followed the steps as indicated.
SFCFix asked to reboot, and so I did. It applied some update, and restarted at normal speed (not as before, when it took much more time).


Then I tried to exceute sfc and it stopped at 29%.

Appart from that, windows update seems to be working. I could apply all pending updates.
I tried again sfc /scannow, and it happened the same, it stopped at 29%.

I also noticed that Windows Search is not working now, can't search in windows menu.

Please post a new copy of the CBS log.
  • Click the Start button and in the search box, type CMD
  • When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator.
  • Copy and paste the following command into it, then press enter.
    Code:
    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"
  • This command will create cbs.txt on your Desktop. Zip this file and attach the zipped cbs.txt to your next post.
 
Open a elevated command prompt and run the following command. Attach Dirlist.txt to your next post.
