Windows 10 PC Settings do not work.. and "Explorer.exe does not have a program associ

Hi guys. You're my last and final help. I've tried everything.. every forum, every repair. The issue that I'm having is well documented in this thread. (no, the troubleshooter does not work).

DISM completes successfully and reports no corruption. SFC consistently stops at 21%. I've tried copying reg keys for explorer and shell from a working 10 machine, using a good .wim as an offline source, tweaking.com repairs. It does seem like others have this issue as well. Can somebody please save the day??

Also my search index is not working, though I'm not hung up on that. I did remove default 10 apps, but subsequently re-registered them. Taskbar works fine, cortana does not. I don't need cortana but would like to have a working search index. I have a 10 iso directly from microsoft. Latest update was the cumulative KB from early march.

Log from CBS scans attached. I'm not sure how relavant this is but I always see this error in sfc logs..

Error CSI 00001634 (F) base\wcp\componentstore\deltastore.cpp(2475): Error STATUS_INVALID_PARAMETER originated in function ComponentStore::CRawStoreLayout::DecompressFile expression: false

Thank you for your time and effort. I greatly appreciate it.

Just noticed that DISM will only run under the domain account that I have (which is added to the local adminsitrators group.) All other local admin accounts report "Error: 0x80004005. An error occurred. The logger could not initialize. For more information, review the log file." while starting to run DISM

Hi coldfirenj :)

My name is Aura and I'll be assisting you with your issue. Is that computer yours, or does it belongs to a company, and you're using it for work?

Hello Aura, and thank you. I'm sorry that I was away last week. It is my personal computer, running in a domain environment (home lab scenario). I'm grateful for the help! let me know whatever I can do

Alright :) Let's start with a SFC scan. A lot of files were repaired in the CBS.log that you posted, I want to see if it'll happen again.

System File Checker (SFC)
Follow the instructions below to run a SFC scan on your system and to provide the CBS log in your next reply;
  • On Windows Vista & 7, click on the Windows Start Menu, then enter cmd in the search box, right-click on the cmd icon and select
    Spcusrh.png
    Run as Administrator
  • On Windows 8, drag your cursor in the bottom-left corner, and right-click on the metro menu preview, then select Command Prompt (Admin);
  • On Windows 8.1, right click on the Windows logo in the bottom-left corner and select Command Prompt (Admin);
  • Enter the command below and press on Enter;
    Code:
    sfc /scannow
    Note: There's a space between "sfc" and "/scannow";
  • Once the scan is complete, enter the command below and press on Enter
    Code:
    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"
  • A file called cbs.txt will have appeared on your Desktop. Upload the file on Dropbox, Google Drive or OneDrive and post the download URL for it here;
Note: Please note that the CBS.log is volatile, which means that if you don't upload it after the SFC scan is completed, it won't have the information from the scan anymore. So archive it and upload it as soon as you can.
