Hi and good day to you,

On my Windows 10 PC, since 3 days, starting up leaves me with a BSOD: system thread exception not handled, fvevol.sys . . and no login screen to Windows.

In safe mode the keyboard does not work.

Searching for 3 days for solutions. Two times, after several start agains, I got in smoothly (why? no idea). Tried chkdsk, found OK. Memory check, found OK. SFC, found OK. DISM, found OK.

The 2 times I got into the Windows, PC and all programs worked fine (got some work done)! Just like now, so now I turn to Sysnative and quickly ran the filecollectionapp . . attached . . sure hope someone sees something helpful I can do!

Thanks a lot, cheers,

Fritz

Dear Mr Pepka, I'm sorry . . that's in Polish?

I am 70 years old, carefully trying to avoid things that can break my PC, like updating BIOS, because of my lack of knowledge and skills . .
Is the updating of the BIOS indeed specifically necessary, according to the files I sent, or a first general advice please?

best regards,

Fritz

this is what scares me . .:

Be very careful when updating your BIOS! If your computer freezes, crashes, or loses power during the process, the BIOS or UEFI firmware may be corrupted. This will render your computer unbootable—it’ll be “bricked.”

hence my question . .

Solved?

Since I'm too scared to update BIOS on my own, I disconnected all external stuff like printer and USB-sticks (should have started with that I think ;-(

. . seems to have done the trick . . System started up smoothly and uninterrupted several times already (albeit slower then it used to, shutdown is also slower) . .

So probably still outdated drivers . . but happy everything is working as intended ;-)

Thank you!

Fritz

no, still working as it did before the crashes . . I reconnected the printer and USB-sticks (albeit in other ports) . . still working normal . .

so . . after 3 days of constant crashes to BSOD, now 3 days of normal operations . .

mystery to me ;-(

tnx for asking!

. . and just FYI and for the record . . only 1 (identical) BSOD since . . in about 15 shutdowns/startups . . with still the same config (no externals connected) . .

I would keep monitoring the system, it's not entirely unusual to have an occasional BSOD. I always seem to get at least one or two with every new laptop, and then they never happen again.
