Hello I am unable to load into windows 10 I installed memory into the computer and was unable to load to windows again. I keep getting the blue screen error inaccessible boot Device. I put back the old ddr3 memory I had and still get the same issue. I entered in command prompt outside windows bootrec /fixbmr also typed bootrec fixboot and finally entered bootrec /rebuildbcd. Still does not work it starts loggin in with the windows10 símbolo then i get the blue screen with the error above. I also dis diskfix and found no errors. Please help I am going crazy trying to fix it. Thank you

Hi the only way I could scan my drive for errors was installing the problem drive in another computer using the operating system on the other computer which is also windows 10 I wet to my pc directory then right click on problem drive then properties then tools then error checking the message I get when it finishes checking is Windows successfully scanned the drive no errors were found. Is this enough for checking the errors of the drive before we tackle the windows start problem

Hello ran sea tools and found 1 error do you want me to fix the bad sector with sea tools for windows

Can I copy all content from drive into another drive will my windows start then or will the bad sector error data pass to the new drive. Or do I fix bad sector then copy a clone of the bad drive to a new drive

So does this mean I lost my old pc configuration with all the programs install I need to start a fresh copy of windows

I have to disagree with softwaremaniac with regard to cloning. Virtually all modern cloning utilities will skip bad sectors, and I would be for more inclined to clone first to a new drive, then try it.

Very often a single bad sector on a whole drive is completely insignificant with regard to the operating system itself, and even if it were to be part of it you can try utilities such as SFC or DISM to correct a bad file (or several).

It's all a matter of what your tolerance for potential wasting time is. I'd rather give cloning a try than having to reinstall a raft of programs and do all the things that need to be done to get a system into the shape I had it in.

That is true, but the damage that cloning can and often does inflict to the Windows Update system is often irreparable and the system has to be reinstalled from scratch to fully fix the issue anyway, so...

I guess our experiences are different. It's not like I've cloned thousands of times, but I have never had an issue with a cloned drive whether the source was fully intact (as in going from a larger capacity drive to smaller, or vice versa) or showing the very earliest signs of failure (like the odd bad sector).

But, as I said, this is all about whether you can tolerate possible failure and having to start completely from scratch, or want to take the chance that this would be unnecessary. Based on my own experience, I choose the latter before resorting to the former. Others, yourself included, take the opposite approach.
