Hello again,

I recently experienced a windows update and after which point my computer started to having lots of troubles loading in Windows.
I got stuck in the scanning disk and repair screen for several hours. It seems that the disk that is attempted to scan is my recovery partition.
Finally after several reboot I got to the login screen. During that reboot attempt, It took about 10 minutes just to go through the splash screen and another 10-20 minutes to load in the login screen.
But as I login, I noticed that my desktop is not loaded properly. Some file names are not displayed, and I have trouble performing any action.
So I reboot again, which seems to exacerbated the problem.

I can load into advanced options menu using a USB media tool I created, though it takes about 40 minutes to do that.
I tried perform SFC /scannow with the command prompt option under that menu, but the scan indicates there is no integrity error.
I tried uninstall the latest quality/feature update, but the system says I can't do that.
At one of the boot the blue screen shows that the system has bad config info.

Any idea how to proceed would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hello and welcome!

Since you mention BSODs, I would first ensure that all the hardware checks out. Please start by performing a HDD check:

GSmartControl
Follow the instructions below to test your hard drive health with GSmartControl:

  • Download GSmartControl and save it on your Desktop;
  • Execute gsmartcontrol.exe; Let the install complete and launch the programme.
  • Identify your drive in the list, and double-click on it to bring up it's window (usually you'll find your drive by it's size or it's brand name);
  • Go in the Perform Tests tab, then select Extended Self-test in the Test type drop-down list and click on Execute (this test can take a few hours to complete);
  • Once the test is over, the results will be displayed at the bottom of the window. Please copy and paste these results in your next reply;
  • Also, go in the Attributes tab and if you have any entries highlighted in red or pink, take a screenshot of the GSmartControl window and attach it in your next reply;
