Windows 10 -- Avast causing corrupt manifest files Fix

Hello,

Avast is currently having an issue which is causing SFC /SCANNOW to detect corrupt manifest files, if you run the avast removal tool it will leave behind some registry values that will cause the following errors:

Corrupt Manifest (manifest is damaged)

An example of the errors inside the CBS log:

There is a way of fixing this issue is by running the following script.

Before you run this script, make sure the version number inside the CBS log error matches 11.0.60610.1 if it doesn't do not run the following. If you are not sure about fixing this your self please start a new thread in the Windows update forum title "Win10 - Avast Corruption" a member of the Windows Update team will come and assist you.

SFCFix script

  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Go to your desktop and right click on the background -> Select New -> Text Document -> Name this file SFCFixScript.txt.
  3. Open up SFCFixScript.txt and copy all of the following text inside the code box below and paste it into SFCFixScript.txt.

  4. Click on File -> Save. Close out of SFCFixScript.txt.
  5. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  6. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFixScript.txt.
  7. Drag the file SFCFixScript.txt onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  8. SFCFix will now process the script.
  9. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  10. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please - put [CODE][/CODE] tags around the log to break up the text.

SFC /SCANNOW
  1. Right click on the

  2. Click on Command prompt (Admin) => Press Yes on the prompt
  3. Inside the Command Prompt windows copy and paste the following command SFC /SCANNOW
  4. Please wait for this to Finish before continuing with rest of the steps.
If SFC is still detecting the issue please start a new thread in the Windows update forum title "Win10 - Avast Corruption" a member of the Windows Update team will come and assist you.

Manifest is missing (manifest is missing)

Do you want to keep Avast!? If yes reinstall Avast and run the above fix. If not run the following:

I have brought this issue up in the Avast support forums, once I am notified of an outcome I will post to this thread.
