Window Update Endless Checking For Updates (Win7 x64 SP1)

Hey There!

I'm having an issue with Windows update forever checking for updates, and never actually completing. I've tried quite a few things and finally ran SFCFix as my final port of call and was hoping a fine person here may be able to offer a solution.

I've tried a few solutions already including:
Running "chkdsk" "SFC /scannow"
Installing the System Update Readiness Tool: Windows6.1-KB947821-v34-x64
I also tried installing WindowsUpdateAgent-7.6 and running, Windows Update Diagnostics tool and MicrosoftFixit50123 all to no joy.

Since one of the issues appeared to be related to Internet Explorer files I also uninstalled IE 10 and 11.
I also did a quick scan with MalwareBytes to try and reduce the likelihood this was a malware issue.

Hey Guys,

Just a heads up, I left the computer running the last few days and I noticed windows update actually finished checking for updates and displayed a bunch of them that can be installed. I did not change the system in any way in that time as it was just left running unattended. I have not chosen to install any yet, and have it set to don't check or install updates automatically, and have shut it down, as I do not wish to interfere with the solution you are working on. I am also unsure of if there would be negative side effects to installing updates on top of the current system considering its state and configuration.

Just thought id let you know this as it may factor in to what you guys are doing.

As an FYI for the SysNative team, the issue of Windows 7 endlessly checking for updates can be resolved by installing KB3112343 from the standalone package. If that seems to run forever, install that update using DISM.

Hello there!

Just updating to let you know that everything been going very well thanks to your help. I spent the last few days letting it download and install updates, rebooting as necessary, there was a lot, and the computer isn't the fastest. A few updates failed to install initially IE out of 50 updates 3 would fail, 2 not installed, but then would successfully install on reboot. I am imagining this is due to the sheer amount of updates backed up.

The only update I am left with that will not install is Intel Corporation - Display - Mobile Intel 4 Series Chipset Family (released Feb 2011, published 2011/06/23) with an Error Code 80246001. I'm unsure of why this is, nor am I sure if its a big deal that it won't install or if I really need it.

Aside from that one though all has been working excellent since the initial fixes, and the computer is running a lot better post updates. Thanks again for your excellent work and support! It is very much appreciated.

In regards to the Intel Corporation - Display - Mobile Intel 4 Series Chipset Family update, we do not recommend performing this update through Windows Update. Rather, the recommended course of action is to download from the manufacturers website by searching for your computer's make and model.
