[Win8 x64 No Update packs] Error "800703F1 and 0643", Corrupt Config. Registry

Hey guys, im currently having problems with my computer and whenever I try and use the windows update service I always get the same error(s) 800703F1 and 0643, then I ended up getting to use DISM.exe and in the end it turned out that I have a corrupt configuration registry with the 1009 error. I don't really know everything to tell you guys so if you need more information let me know thanks!

Please manually upload the components hive by following these instructions:

Upload Components Hive
  1. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\config
  2. Right-click on the current COMPONENTS file and select copy
Note: If you get an error that the file is in use, reboot your computer and then try again.
  3. Right-click on your Desktop and select paste
  4. Right-click on the COMPONENTS file on your Desktop and select Send To -> Compressed (zipped) Folder
  5. Upload the zip from your Desktop to a file sharing service such as DropBox, OneDrive, SendSpace, etc. and include the link with your reply.

Re: Windows 8, Error "800703F1 and 0643", Corrupt Config. Registry

Step 1 - Replace Components Hive Manually

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Download Download COMPONENTS.zip from Sendspace.com - send big files the easy way and save to your desktop.
  2. Right-click on it and select Extract all.... Make sure the "Show extracted files when complete" is checked and click Extract.
  3. Now we have the COMPONENTS file that we will be using to replace your current one.
  4. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\config
  5. Right-click on the current COMPONENTS file and select rename. Rename it to COMPONENTS.bad.
Note: If you get an error that the file is in use, reboot your computer and then try again.
  6. Take the file from the Components folder on your desktop and paste it into C:\Windows\System32\config

Step 2 - DISM /RestoreHealth Scan

  1. Right-click on the Start
    w8start.png
button and select Command Prompt (Admin)
  2. When command prompt opens, Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Right-click > Paste) the following command into it, then press Enter

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

  3. When DISM finishes scanning your component store, zip up and attach your CBS log to your next post:

    C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

I see that in the log.

Load Components Hive
  1. Open Registry Editor.
  2. Click either the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE key.
  3. On the File menu, click Load Hive….
  4. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config\ and click on COMPONENTS (without any file extension).
  5. Click Open.
  6. In Key Name, type COMPONENTS and then click OK.

Inside COMPONENTS, is there a value named StoreFormatVersion? Please provide a screenshot.
