It has come to our attention at there has been a recent explosion of people reporting corruptions with the
CNBJ2530.DPB file in Windows
8 and
8.1.
This post aims to outline both how to determine whether your computer is affected and how to repair it should it be. Unfortunately, we have yet to identify the root cause for this corruption at this time but it is part of an ongoing investigation here, and we shall be sharing all of our findings with Microsoft when appropriate to lead, if at all possible, to a final resolution.
First, to confirm whether or not you are affected by a corruption of this file, please perform the following:
- Press the Windows Key on your keyboard and X to open up the Power User Tasks Menu
- Click (or tap) Command Prompt (admin)
- When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each
sfc /scannow
Wait for this to finish before you continue (approximately 15 minutes)
This program, included as standard with all modern copies of Microsoft Windows, will first scan your system files for corruption and will then provide its analysis in a machine friendly form. We shall therefore be using another program, SFCFix (developed here at Sysnative by
niemiro) to interpret this data into a more human friendly format.
- Download SFCFix.exe and save this to your Desktop.
- Save any open documents and close all open windows.
- Double click on SFCFix.exe to open it.
- Follow all on screen instructions and upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
This logfile will automatically open. If SFCFix has successfully repaired the corruption, the logfile will contain the following line:
Code:
AutoAnalysis::
FIXED: Performed DISM repair on file Amd64\CNBJ2530.DPB of version 6.3.9600.16384.
The version number will change depending on the version of Windows 8 you are running, but that line signifies that the issue has been successfully repaired. That's it - you're now good to go. If SFCFix reports other corruptions, then please start a thread of your own. Include your CBS folder (per the
Windows Update Forum Posting Instructions) and the contents of the
SFCFix.txt.
If you are having issues with the automated method, the old manual guide is below:

If you see a line that looks similar to the following in your logfile (Not the exact directory name at the moment, just the portions in bold), then you are affected by this corruption. (Note: If you are running a 32bit (x86) computer then
amd64_prncacla.inf will be replaced by
x86_prncacla.inf)
Code:
AutoAnalysis::
CORRUPT: C:\WINDOWS\winsxs\amd64_prncacla.inf_31bf3856ad364e35_6.2.9200.16430_none_fdce12188b615b12\Amd64\CNBJ2530.DPB
Now you know that you have a corruption, you need to repair it. The exact repair required depends on the exact corruption.
If the
SFCFix.txt log produced earlier reads:
Code:
AutoAnalysis::
CORRUPT: C:\WINDOWS\winsxs\amd64_prncacla.inf_31bf3856ad364e35_6.2.9200.16430_none_fdce12188b615b12\Amd64\CNBJ2530.DPB

If the log produces lines that are different to the ones mentioned above, please start a thread of your own. Include your CBS folder (per the
Windows Update Forum Posting Instructions) and the contents of the
SFCFix.txt.
I will repeat, the line in the log must be
exactly the same as the ones mentioned above. If it's similar, do not attempt the fix, and start your own thread.
You may have seen other users uploading a Tekno_Venus folder. That is no longer necessary.
Once you have sourced the files you need, then perform the following steps:
SFCFix Script
- Download SFCFix.exe and save this to your Desktop.
- Download the necessary file for you corruption, titled SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
- Save any open documents and close all open windows.
- On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
- Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
- SFCFix will now process the script.
- Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
SFC Scan
- Press the Windows Key on your keyboard and X to open up the Power User Tasks Menu
- Click (or tap) Command Prompt (admin)
- When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each
sfc /scannow
Wait for this to finish before you continue (approximately 15 minutes)
This should repair the corruption. If you would like, you can run SFC once more. It should report back "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations." If it doesn't, start your own thread.
I will update this thread with new line styles and fixes as I find them, as well as updates to my ongoing investigation into the problem.
If you have any questions regarding this tutorial, let me know. If you are unsure about anything, just ask!
Regards,
Stephen
