I'm having an issue when updating due to corruption with Package_151_for_KB2934018~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.3.1.5

I noticed a situation remarkably similar to mine:
https://www.sysnative.com/forums/wi...ows-8-1-x64-pro-unable-install-kb3185911.html

The Windows Update log shows the error:

I also ran SFCFix in the hope it might've been corrected automatically:
Code:

I'm hoping someone may be able to find out how to correct the corruption in the component store.

Thanks!

Thanks! Indeed, yes, still trying to determine how I can correct the corruption in the SxS component store

Can you please zip/attach your full CBS.log?
Sure, here's the output of after a run of an update attempt along with AnalyzeComponentStore. Looks like far more packages than the initial one I mentioned above are reporting corruption :(

Thank you. Please do the following.

Retrieve Components Hive
1. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file.
2. Please copy this file to your desktop.
Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again.
3. Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To...Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop.
4. The file will likely be too large to upload here so please upload to SendSpace and just provide the link here.

Please do the following.

Step#1 - SFCFix Script
Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.
  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop. If you still have this on your desktop from downloading previously, you don't need to re-download.
  2. Download the file below, SFCScript.txt, and save this to your Desktop.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCScript.txt.
  5. Drag the file SFCScript.txt onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please

It looks like there are a few more components that are preventing update from being successful unfortunately -- I tried to trace back through the CanonicalData to see what keys were corrupted and I think I spotted a few:

I've included a newer version of the CBS log if that might be helpful

Let's try something a little different. Please do the following.

Install Update with DISM

  1. Download this update and save to your desktop. The file name will be Windows8.1-KB3000850-x64.cab.zip.
  2. Right-click on this file and select Extract All... Keep the defaults and click the Extract button. You can close the folder window that opens. Note: If it doesn't unzip or you get errors then the file is too large to use the default Windows unzip and you may need to use something else like 7-zip.
  3. Click on the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  4. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator. Go ahead and allow if you receive the UAC prompt.
  5. Copy and paste the following command into the command prompt window and press enter.

    dism /online /add-package /packagepath:%userprofile%\desktop\Windows8.1-KB3000850-x64.cab\Windows8.1-KB3000850-x64.cab
  6. You should receive the message:
    The operation completed successfully.
Restart Windows to complete this operation. <---You may not get this line.
Do you want to restart the computer now (Y/N)? <---You may not get this line.

Go ahead and do so if prompted. Let me know what errors if any come up.

Whoops looks like I posted the wrong file for the previous update above:

I'm guessing it may need to have those a few more registry entries populated from another 8.1 amd64 installation?

I'm guessing it may need to have those a few more registry entries populated from another 8.1 amd64 installation?
Yes. Easier said than done and I wonder how many there will be. Let's start with the following.
