[SOLVED] [Win7SP1Pro x64] Win.Updates won't install - error codes 80073712 and 80070490

I can't install updates KB3126587 and KB3080149. Every time I try, I get the above error codes. Winsxs is taking up ~19 GB of space on my hard drive and I figured I should make sure all the updates are installed. halp?

Please attempt to install only KB3126587. Once it fails, please zip up and attach your c:\windows\logs\cbs\cbs.log

Please do the following.

Step#1 - SFCFix Script
Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop. If you still have this on your desktop from downloading previously, you don't need to re-download.
  2. Download the file below, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
  5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please

At first the script gives me an error that says it's checking for updates but has no internet connection, even though I do. I just pressed "enter" and it generated the file though. Not sure if it's valid. It happened last time too.

Install Update with DISM

  1. Download this update and save to your desktop. The file name will be Windows6.1-KB3080149-x64.cab.zip
  2. Right-click on this file and select Extract All... Keep the defaults and click the Extract button. You can close the folder window that opens
  3. Click on the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  4. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator. Go ahead and allow if you receive the UAC prompt.
  5. Copy and paste the following command into the command prompt window and press enter.

    dism /online /add-package /packagepath:%userprofile%\desktop\Windows6.1-KB3080149-x64.cab\Windows6.1-KB3080149-x64.cab
  6. You should receive the message:
    The operation completed successfully.
    Restart Windows to complete this operation. <---You may not get this line.
    Do you want to restart the computer now (Y/N)? <---You may not get this line.

Go ahead and do so if prompted. Let me know what errors if any come up.

I did everything there, it prompted to restart, I restarted successfully. Windows Update gives 2 important updates needed. I haven't done anything yet.
