Hopefully I have followed directions up to this point, and have attached relevant files. I am working on this machine remotely for a friend and as yet have been unable to insert a disk, but I think I can remedy that and will give it another go. In the meantime, I have run both SFC and DISM and logs for both are included in CBS.zip. The CBS folder contained large persist files I had to remove to get it to upload. This is an older Compaq laptop 1200 series that was upgraded from Vista to Windows 7 Home Premium 64. Recent action has been an attempt to remove all traces of AVG antivirus and replace it with Avast. It is running much better after cleaning up, but has this persistent SFC corruption of autochk.exe, which I believe may be preventing chkdsk.exe from running on restart.
I ran a comparison of this machine's autochk.exe md5 hash with those of my machine that has no SFC errors. The installed files have the same hash on the two machines, but the winsxs files that have the exact same file path designation do not agree.
