[SOLVED] [Win7SP1 x64] Unavailable repair files

Hey all, I've been directed to this forum from the fellas over at sevenforums. Basically I get a BSOD when I use Skype or other communication programs. The people at sevenforums told me to bring my problems specifically to this sub-forum:r1:. Frankly, I'm in way over my head, and I'm not even sure what the problem is (sorry for the vague thread title) . Any help would be appreciated, and let me know what additional information you need!

Please post a link to the thread at sevenforums so we can read what already has been done.
Follow the instructions below.

Step 1:
Follow the instructions below to run a scan with the System Update Readiness Tool (SURT) and provide a log.

  1. Download SURT for your system. (Windows 7 SP1 x64)
  2. Once downloaded, execute the installer, and go throught the installation (this process can take around 15-20 minutes).
Alternatively, if these instructions are unclear for you, you can follow the tutorial below:

WARNING! The following fix is specific to the user's system in this thread. No one else should follow the instructions below to apply that fix, as it could damage your system. If you need assistance with an issue, please start a new thread and someone will assist you shortly.


  • Download the attached archive file, Packs.zip and save it on your Desktop
  • Once it's downloaded, right-click on it and select Extract All....
  • Check the Show extracted files when complete checkbox, and click on Extract.
  • On completion, a folder will open with the folder Packages inside it.
  • Copy and paste the files of the Packages folder inside C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\servicing\Packages.
  • Run the System Update Readiness Tool (SURT) again.
  • On completion, attach the log located at C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log in your next reply.

Something must have gone wrong because nothing was fixed.
Please read the instructions careful, try again en post the new CheckSur.log at attachment.
 
Ok, I figured out what happened (double layering of Packages folder). Here is the new log file. Thanks for putting up with me!

  • Drag the SFCFix.zip file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it.

  • Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt.

1. Download the Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop:

2. Download the attachment fixlist.txt and save it to your desktop.
3. Right-click on FRST64.exe and select "Run as administrator".
4. Press the Fix button.
5. The tool will now process fixlist.txt.
6. If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
7. When finished, a log called Fixlog.txt will appear in the same directory the tool is run from.
8. Post the logfile Fixlog.txt as attachment in your next reply.
