Hello my Windows 7 Samsung rv511 is stuck on startup repair.

I have read the instuction on posting but unfortunalty can't download anything, no matter what I try it just keeps going to repair and gets stuck on a blue screen.

I have tried a recovery from disk but still the same problem, any help appritiated.

Thank you.

*I may be slow answering as I'm using somenes tablet.

The only thing that I can think of is to use the recovery DVD(s) - which you said you tried.

What is the bugcheck (STOP ERROR) on the BSOD itself?

Do you have an extra hard drive lying around? If so, you can install it in the laptop and try the recovery DVD again.

Hello jcgriff2, thank you for answering.

No the recovery disc didn't start. No matter what I tried there was no way to do anything as the repair kept taking over and then freezing, I tried leaving it running for 10 hours but nothing

There was no message on the BSOD it was just the start up screen with nothing showing.

But I have solved the problem and installed Ubuntu along side from a friends DVD, my thinking was I could see if I could solve it by at least getting the laptop started. However having now tried Ubuntu for the first time I've decided to dump Windows as it it has given me far to many problems since they tried to force 10 on me.

So thank you once again for the reply, and I'm sorry to have bothered you but it's time for me to say goodbye to Windows.

Hi Fred. . .

I assure you that it is not a bother for you to have created this thread. That's what we're here for.

Sad to see a Windows client leave, but I wish you well with Ubuntu.

Just to note - the freezing that you described concerns me. Freezing is almost always attributable to hardware failure.

Good Luck!

Re: Startup repair stuck - Windows 7 x64

Yes it is a shame and the laptop is getting on a bit now. But at the moment a new one is out of my budget, so I have to try and keep it going. I have only ever used XP and 7 and was always happy, but since Windows trying to force 10 on me I have had nothing but problems.

It seems to be a common problem with Samsung RV511 and there was never a fix to be able to use 10. So I was stuck with 7 and was happy continuing with it, but after so many problems and updates going wrong or getting stuck I had no choice.

But thank you all for your Windows support, I have found a lot of solutions here and you have helped me out in the past (sorry forgot last username) but with my Samsung RV511 I have no choice.

... in the past (sorry forgot last username) ...

If you used a different username last time, I am unable to find it based on a search for email or IP address.

Not a big deal if you have another username floating around out there.
