[Win7SP1 x64] KB3191566 does not install; error 2148204800

Having problems installing Powershell 5.1 on Windows 7 SP1 x64. When I check the event log the following message is reported:

Windows update "Update for Windows (KB3191566)" could not be installed because of error 2148204800 "No signature was present in the subject." (Command line: ""C:\Windows\system32\wusa.exe" "Win7AndW2K8R2-KB3191566-x64.msu" /quiet /norestart /log:C:\Windows\Logs\Software\Win7AndW2K8R2-KB3191566-x64.evtx")

I ran System File Checker and Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them.

I ran SFCFix and the following was returned almost immediately:

SFCFix Script

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.


  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Download the file below, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
  5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please - put [CODE][/CODE] tags around the log to break up the text.


Afterwards, please run SURT again and attach CheckSUR.log

I rebooted the system and tried to install Update KB3191566 but now getting a different error:

Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x800b0100: Update for Windows (KB3191566).

I ran the SFCFix with the associated zip file again and got the following results:
