I've been asked to update a Sony laptop from 2009 with Windows 7. It's an Atom processor with 2GB of memory, so it's slow, but it works. Windows Update will run for hours while stuck on checking for updates or downloading updates. WSUS ran a few times, updated the Service Pack 1, and installed IE11. When I run it in safe mode, it reports that there are no further updates. When I run it in standard mode, it gets to checking for updates and freezes. Windows Update does the same thing. The last time I had this problem, there was corruption. Can someone help me close in on what the current problem is?
