Hi,

I've been trying to update my Win 7 pro install with SP1 but am unable to due to corrupt manifests and dll's. I've managed to get most files fixed but am down to the following files and cannot find them and SFCFix was not able to replace them either. Help would be greatly appreciated.

winsxs\manifests\x86_microsoft.msxml2_6bd6b9abf345378f_4.1.0.0_none_6c030d6fdc86522c.manifest
winsxs\manifests\amd64_netfx-web_engine_dll_b03f5f7f11d50a3a_6.1.7600.20804_none_aca3c610f96a2224.manifest
winsxs\manifests\amd64_microsoft-windows-activexcompat_31bf3856ad364e35_8.0.7600.20613_none_6dcc2702ad282deb.manifest

winsxs\x86_microsoft-windows-servicingstack_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.17105_none_0b7293d225839c39\fastprox.dll

Attached are my cbs logs, sfx fix txt and checksur log.

Re: Corrupt update files Windows 7 Pro

Hi and welcome to Sysnative. Sorry for the delay. Please start with the following.

Step#1 - SFCFix Script
Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop. If you still have this on your desktop from downloading previously, you don't need to re-download.
  2. Download the file below, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
  5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please

Thanks so much I realize there are a lot of people to help in these forums.

I noticed the zip doesn't contain fastprox.dll is there another step for that?

This one will be a bit tricker but I'm hoping we don't need to fix this one in order to upgrade to SP1.

First, please re-run SURT and provide the resulting CheckSUR.log. Thanks.

I tried SP1 update it failed. Here is the CheckSUR.log:

Re: Corrupt update files Windows 7 Pro

Thank you for continuing to help I really really appreciate it.

Why do you find that error odd? Any idea what is going on? I may or may not have had a failing SSD that caused all the original corruptions, but I've cloned to a new SSD now.

SP1 install still failing :(

I've attached the new CBS log and here is the sfcfix.txt output:

Re: [Win7 pro] Corrupt update files

Why do you find that error odd? Any idea what is going on?
They system appears to be looking for the file TsUsbGD.sys at the following location C:\Windows\Servicing\Packages\amd64_tsgenericusbdriver.inf_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.17514_none_9872c8452ac8f816\TsUsbGD.sys
I don't believe it would ever exist there.

Have you tried downloading SP1 manually and then installing from the downloaded file? If not, please do as it may give me a better idea of what's going on.

1. Download the ISO from here.
2. Mount the ISO. Windows 7 will need a tool to do so. There are many but you may use this one if you wish.
3. Then attempt the install from there.

Please zip/attach the following files after it fails to install. Thanks.
c:\windows\logs\cbs\cbs.log
c:\windows\inf\setupapi.dev.log

Re: [Win7 pro] Corrupt update files

I have been manually installing the SP1 via the windows6.1-KB976932-X64.exe, is that different from the ISO? I will try the ISO as well.

The latest CBS log seems to be complaining about TsUsbHubFilter.inf, is this related to your comment about the generic usb driver?

Thanks again Brian

Re: [Win7 pro] Corrupt update files

Actually if you have been trying to install from the .exe as mentioned that will be fine. No reason to try the ISO.

The CBS.log that you attached for me was empty. Please zip up and attach your current CBS.log.

Thanks.

My comment was really about where the system was looking for a file. It was in an unexpected place. Your current CBS.log will tell me more.

Re: [Win7 pro] Corrupt update files

Sorry must have forgotten to save the file before zipping it, here it is.

Re: [Win7 pro] Corrupt update files

Please do the following.
