So, I originally joined this community because I was having a problem with updating my Win7 laptop. This all began with the bluekeep patch. Another forum I was on took me through some steps which did not correct the situation. That left me with the advice to reinstall the OS. I finally was able to get to doing this over the past few days. It has still been a struggle getting patchs to install, but I managed to get everything installed but one important patch and one optional patch. While searching for a remedy for this I came across this forum. I joined and followed the instructions for what to do before posting. I ran through the procedure to the SFCF.exe step. I ended up getting a "SURT total detected corruption count: 98" in the results. I then ran through the procedure again and the SFCF generated "SUMMARY: No corruptions were detected., AutoAnalysis:: directive completed successfully." Okay?? I tried doing the update and they still failed. So, I decided to download the update to do a stand alone installation, as I had success with that. When I went to the info for the update, I caught information noting to insure that certain other updates were installed first, which were the SSU and the SHA-2 updates. Now, I had already updated the SSU according to this MS page. When I compared them, they were different release dates, with the one I had installed already be the newer. Well I decided to download the files that was requested for the update in question, KB4516065, and installed them. Once that happened, everything took off on me with the remaining updates. Also, I started seeing other updates showing up. All those have installed without any issue and now my Windows Update says it is up to date! So, I guess I don't have a problem any more and it is solved. I guess it pays to read! Hopefully, this may help someone else, which is why I am posting this experience. I am of the mind that I probably didn't need to reinstall my OS. Oh well, live and learn. Perhaps, the SFCF.exe helped as well. If so, thanks for the help!!
