This month the Security Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows 7 that won't install is:
2019-01 Security Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows 7 for x64-based Sys

tems (KB4480970)

but this has happened for the past three months or longer. It just became my issue to deal with.

I have attempted to resolve this issue by running SFC /Snannow and SFCFix but before that, I have tried to manually install the update by itself and along with another update.
I have attempted to turn off wuauserv, bits, cryptsvc, then rename softwaredistribution softwaredistribution.old and then run the update manually.

One time I tried this, the update said it installed. However, it is still showing as an available update.

Here is a link to the CBS - Dropbox - CBS.zip

Any help you can provide is very much appreciated!

Hello and welcome!

Install Update with DISM

  1. Download this update and save to your desktop. The file name will be Windows6.1-KB4462923-x64.cab.zip.
  2. Right-click on this file and select Extract All... Click the Extract button. You can close the folder window that opens
  3. Click on the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  4. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator. Go ahead and allow if you receive the UAC prompt.
  5. Copy and paste the following command into the command prompt window and press enter.

    dism /online /add-package /packagepath:%userprofile%\desktop\Windows6.1-KB4462923-x64.cab\Windows6.1-KB4462923-x64.cab
  6. You should receive the message:
    The operation completed successfully.
Restart Windows to complete this operation. <---You may not get this line.
Do you want to restart the computer now (Y/N)? <---You may not get this line.

Go ahead and do so if prompted. Let me know what errors if any come up. If you do get errors, please zip/attach your CBS.log

Thank you! I will be attempting this today when the client is free. I will post the results.

No errors. It also didn't ask me to reboot but I am doing so.

The update installed successfully after performing the steps you provided. I rebooted again and restarted our monitoring on this machine and it has cleared. Thank you so much for all of your help!

You too! Thank you so much for your help. I have two other issues (one with my computer and one with another client computer) but I will search first and start new threads for those.
