Windows Update fails with the above error codes. This has been going on for some time.

I tried running a Windows cleaning tool (from Tweaking.com), to no avail.

SFC will not complete, citing unfixable errors.

Please run SFC Scan and attach CBS.log as there have apparently been some repairs made.

Do the same with SURT please and attach CheckSUR.log.

I did run SFC Scan and the log is linked to my post. If you mean something else, then I'm afraid I'm not following you.

I'm afraid don't know what SURT is.
 
Please re-run the tools listed under steps 2 and 3 and attach the logs. (Link below)

SURT stands for System Update Readiness Tool.

I know you have linked them already, but as I said, in the logs you attached, some repairs were made, I need a fresh set of logs to confirm they were successful.

Please let me know if anything is still unclear.

OK, here is a link to the new CBS log. The log file is a .txt file, because that's the only way I could figure out to do it. I was "denied access" to the log file. I don't know why that is a problem today, when it wasn't yesterday. Rather frustrating.

The SURT program doesn't want to install. It keeps stalling.
 
SFCFix Script

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.


  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Download the file below, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
  5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please - put [CODE][/CODE] tags around the log to break up the text.



Afterwards, run SURT and attach CheckSUR.log.

No, the RAM has been neither tested nor replaced. But it wouldn't surprise me if I have some growing hardware problem. I have gotten several blue screens recently.

I ran the memory test, and on the first pass it found 64 errors in about five different tests. So I stopped the test and opened and cleaned the inside of the box and pulled and reseated the memory module. I re-ran the test for eight passes, and it finished with no errors. (I would attach the report files, but for some reason Chrome now won't load the page when I click "Go Advanced." It cites "unusual code.)
