Hi all.

Been trying to install SP1 on my Win7 box for a while, but to no avail. Also had about 40 errors from SURT.
Was able to fix most of them via Advanced guidelines for diagnosing and fixing servicing corruption.
However, still got 8 CSI C Mark Deployment Missing errors from SURT, and SP1 won't install by means of Windows Update (error 8024200D), nor manually. :banghead:

All remaining SURT errors appear to be related to my antivirus, avast (license renewed recently).
SFC reports no problems.
SFCFix log follows:

CBS.zip too big (37 MB) to upload/attach here, so please find it at Uploadfiles.io - cbs.zip - it'll be there for 30 days only, since I'm a free user ;)
CheckSUR.log is attached, just in case...

Thanks in advance for any help!

No, not the full ISO, since that contains every version (including symbols), which I didn't need.
After Windows Update failing repeatedly to install SP1, I downloaded from the page you linked the file for my platform, i.e. windows6.1-KB976932-X64.exe (903.2 MB) and tried to install that.

There's a conflict with Avast. Please uninstall Avast Antivirus. If you are using the paid version, please make sure that you have any licensing/serial info so you can re-install after everthing is upgraded. Let me know when this is complete.

Tried manually, and fails with ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND (0X80070002).

New SURT run log attached.

Executed avastclear, says successfully, but still no joy:
WU -> error 000000B7
manual -> error 80070002.

Just wondering...
on C:\ there are dozens of those folders whose names are a string of hex digits, and some of them contain sp* files, like
spinstall.exe or spwizui.dll.
Could the issue have anything to do with them? Anyway, are they safe to delete?

Thanks

Let's hold off on doing anything with those for the moment.

Please do the following.

FRST Registry Search
1. Click your Start button and choose Control Panel.
2. In the upper right corner ensure the View by: is set to Category.
3. Select the Programs group.
4. Click the Turn Windows features on or off link. This will bring up the Windows Features dialog. Wait until this dialog populates with information.
Note: This loads your components hive which is what we want. Please keep this dialog open while you perform the remaining steps.
5. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.
Note: You need to run the 64-bit Version so please ensure you download that one.
6. Run FRST64 by Right-Clicking on the file and choosing Run as administrator.
7. Copy and paste
SW_ASWNDISMP;aswNdis into the Search box and click the Search Registry button.
Search.JPG

8. When the scan is complete a notepad window will open with the results. Please copy and paste the contents in your next reply. If for some reason notepad doesn't open the file should be
saved on your desktop named Search.txt.
9. You may close any remaining open windows now.

FRST search results:

Thanks. Please do the following.

FRST Scan
1. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop. (You can use the one you already downloaded)
Note: You need to run the 64-bit Version so please ensure you download that one.
2. Right click to run as administrator. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
3. Please ensure you place a check mark in the Addition.txt check box at the bottom of the form before running (if not already).
4. Press Scan button.
5. It will produce a log called FRST.txt in the same directory the tool is run from (which should now be the desktop)
6. Please copy and paste log back here.
7. Another log (Addition.txt - also located in the same directory as FRST64.exe) will be generated Please also paste that along with the FRST.txt into your reply.

Done.
However, the files are somewhat big (for a post, at least). So I thought better to attach them rather than pasting as inline text, in order to improve thread readability. Hope you don't mind?
Also, since the OS installation here is in Italian, some description strings are, too. Like "Impossibile trovare il file specificato" instead of "Unable to find specified file", or whatever.
Should you need to translate them into English, please feel free to ask.

Please do the following.

FRST Fix
NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to your operating system
1. Download attached file and save it to the Desktop.
Note. It's important that both files, FRST64 and fixlist.txt are in the same location or the fix will not work (in this case...the desktop).
2. Run FRST64 by Right-Clicking on the file and choosing Run as administrator.
3. Press the Fix button just once and wait. If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
4. When finished FRST64 will generate a log on the Desktop (Fixlog.txt). Please post the contents of it in your reply.
