[Win10v1703b15063 x64] SFC finds corrupted files. Can't repair. SFCFIX crashes.

PLEASE HELP ASAP, I'VE BEEN TRYING TO FIX MY WINDOWS FOR 3 DAYS NOW.

SFCFix version 3.0.0.0 by niemiro.

Not using a script file.








SFCFix version 3.0.0.0 by niemiro has encountered an unhandled exception.

SFCFix crashes while reading the CBS.log.
I've read a few other posts in this forum, I think now I need to acquire a SFCFix.zip file to fix my problem.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

Can you please run SFCFIx again once it crashes leave the crashed program open.

Open up task manager (Press Cntrl + Alt + Del -> Task manager) right click on SFCFix.exe -> Create dump file -> Save the file to your desktop.

Please zip this file and attach back to this thread.

Thanks for providing that, I am getting in contact with the developer of SFCFix now to see why it is failing.

xdbong, I've had a look at your crash dump and can see that SFCFix prompted you for Y/N, then crashed when you pressed a key. Did you press any other key than Y/N? Did you have to press Ctrl/Alt/Fn or another key before the Y?

None of the screens ask me to press Y/N. I took pictures of every single screen that came up:

Just to confirm, this is crashing in the same place as before? I just want to check the dumps we're working on are valid for this crash.

Also, can you upload any .dmp files in this folder please?

Yes it crashed here previously too.

SFCFixCrashDump.dmp: Uploadfiles.io - SFCFixCrashDump.zip (it's from the SFCFixCrashReport folder, is that okay?)

Thanks, that one revealed the bug. I'm not sure why, but one of your CBS logs is very unusual and has this line in it:

"2017-08-21 00:29:50, Info CSI 00000f95 [SR] Cannot repair member file [l:41]'FaceRecognitionEngineAdapterResources.dll' of Microsoft-Windows-Analog-FaceRecognitionAdapters, version 10.0.15063.502, arch amd64, nonSxS, pkt {l:8 b:31bf3856ad364e35} in the store, file is missing"

There should be double quotes around FaceRecognitionEngineAdapterResources.dll, not single ones, which is why SFCFix crashed. Can you zip up and upload all CbsPersist*.cab files in this folder: C:\Windows\Logs\CBS

We'll get a fixed version of SFCFix for you soon.

Just as I posted that, my DISM repair finished with a SUCCESSFUL 100%!!
Will try to run a sfc /scannow and see what that tells me.
