Hello,
in my computer i have an Avermedia H335 minicard DVB-T tuner and a USB professional device TBS 5925 DVB-S2 receiver.
After upgrading to Windows 10 Creators Update ( version 1703) these cards are available in the device list but any application trying to use them report a message that they cannot access or are not available.
I have tried to reinstall all drivers without success.
As first impression it seems that something with the new Windows version is preventing applications from access.

Any idea or help on this?

thanks in advance.

Re: Windows 10 1703 problems with media cards

You could try a clean install of the Windows 10 Creators version. I had similar issues with a tuner card until I clean installed Windows 10.

I would recommend creating a system image and backing up any important files prior to doing the clean install, assuming you don't already have good backup habits.

Hello Writhziden and thanks for your reply.
Actually i was looking for a less destructive solution, that is the last chance.

I hope there is a way to "cure" this issue, exterminating the operating system is not my first choice.

I understand. It usually takes me a day or two to get a clean install set up to a close facsimile of the way I like things. It takes weeks for me to get the finer details ironed out so the system is almost exactly as it was prior to the clean install.

Your best option might be to contact the manufacturers of the tuner devices and/or the developers of the software that keeps failing to detect the devices. I do not know of any magic cure-alls for your situation. A few things you could try:

Hi guys. :)

I'll add another one (if you didn't already try it): start windows in safe mode, uninstall "H335 minicard DVB-T tuner" and "TBS 5925 DVB-S2 receiver" drivers and programs, reboot in safe mode, reinstall them.

Thank you for your suggestions.

SFC and DISM produce no effect.
In place upgrade/repair seems not to be possible, it says is already up to date and doesn't let run it again.
I will try the safe mode way later tonight.

The amazing thing is that both cards result properly installed, drivers are correct and it says they are working correctly. Then applications are not able to access them.....

You can do an in-place upgrade install with the Create Windows 10 installation media method. Before you do so, though, be aware that installing again will overwrite your previous Windows.Old folder, so you will not be able to do the steps outlined to Go back to your previous version of Windows.

Hello,
@Xilolee : the safe mode way had no effect, actually in safe mode it doesn't allow to install anything since the install service is not running.
@writhziden: the in-place upgrade with media creation tool seems to have solved the problem. Right after running it i was able to reconfigure AverMedia TV software and works and then the TBS stuff.

Thanks for your suggestions
