I'm having two errors actually, installing both versions 1511 and 1607, but I believe fixing this one should be first. It's been a while since this computer has been updated I believe.

Re: [Win10] 0x80073712 error

Hi and welcome to Sysnative. Sorry for the delay. Please start with the following.

Step#1 - DISM /RestoreHealth Scan
Warning:this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Right-click on the Start button and select Command Prompt (Admin)
  2. When command prompt opens, Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Right-click > Paste) the following command into it, then press Enter
    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
  3. Once it finishes, copy and paste the following into the command-prompt window and press Enter. If prompted to overwrite the existing file go ahead.
    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"
  4. Once this has completed please go to your Desktop and you will find CBS.txt => Please zip/upload to this thread.
Please Note:: if the file is too big (over 7MB) to upload to your next post, please upload via a service such as Dropbox or One Drive or SendSpace and just provide the link.

Log looks good. Now please do the following.

sfc /scannow

3. Once it finishes, copy and paste the following into the command-prompt window and press Enter.
copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"

4. Once this has completed please go to your Desktop and you will find CBS.txt => Right-click on this file and choose Send To...Compressed (zipped folder). Please upload this zipped file CBS.zip to this thread

Please Note:: if the file is too big to upload to your next post please upload via a service such as Dropbox or One Drive or SendSpace and just provide the link.

Good. Now let's try the following. Let me know if any errors come up and what they are.

1. Download the Media Creation Tool and save this to your desktop. Go ahead and run this as well. Note: Click the Download tool now button when you get to this link.
2. Accept the License Agreement
3. Keep the default Upgrade this PC option and click Next.
4. Let this process complete the upgrade to the newest build and let me know when complete.

It took a while to run the program, as it was installing windows 10, it crashed saying there was an error. It was around 60% of installing it I think.

Any ideas?

Please do the following.

1. Right-Click your start button and choose Command Prompt (Admin).
2. Answer Yes to the UAC prompt if it appears.
3. Copy/Paste the following into the command-prompt window and hit enter.
reg query HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate /s >1.txt && notepad 1.txt

4. Notepad will open showing the WU info. Can you copy and paste this into your next reply?

Please zip up and attach the following log.
C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources\panther\setupact.log

Also, can you tell me if the following folder exists? You may have to show hidden and system files to see it.
C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources\Rollback

Couldn't find the setupapi.offline.log

But I've attached 3 different setupapi variants, not sure if it helps.

I believe I found the issue. I'm at a soccer game and will post later. Your boot volume has some corruption we need to repair.

You may want to print out these instructions or view them on another device as we're going to be booting your machine into a command-prompt so you won't have access to these instructions at that time.

1. Hold down your Shift button on your keyboard while you reboot your machine. Keeping holding the Shift button down until the "Choose an Option" screen comes up.

2. Click Troubleshoot and then Advanced Options.
3. Click Command Prompt. Eventually the command-prompt window will come up. Note: You may have to select your username and enter your password if you have one.
4. Type the following at the command-prompt and hit enter. bcdedit /export C:\BCD_backup
5. Let me know if it says it was successful or not.
6. To get back into windows you can type exit in the command-prompt and hit enter. Then click the Continue button.
